Actually, funny story about that. I had never really played MMOs until I met my wife. She played WoW and I'd always been a console gamer (to include Skyrim). When ESO came out- we hopped on beta and have been playing ever since. (Yeah. I'm one of those PC console controller abominations!)Want to enjoy the game more? I'll show her this morning when she wakes up. She's used to it by now. Especially when everyone calls her "bro" or "dude" in group messages. We usually both just listen to Team Speak when we're in PVP or Trials... but eeeeeeevery once in a while, she'll speak and suddenly there's silence. As if the guys on TS are trying to register that there's a female amongst them.
As for the "ruin your marriage" naysayers- if they believe a relationship teeters on the verge of a video game, I'd say they have a lot to learn about life. If my wife and I get frustrated while playing- we can always turn off the computers and watch a romantic comedy, have some drinks (to build up ulti) and then I'll try to give her the Standard of Might.
...but she'll probably toss in a Negate.
