Group chat bug on PS4

I've been having issues with the PS4 group chat for a while - possibly since Morrowind patch - hope this is fixed with tomorrow's HOTR.
- quite often when grouped I do not even have the onscreen option to join group chat (it will only say "Main" or "Area", can't remember which)
- when group chat does work it often kicks me
- when I leave PSN chat to talk in group it won't automatically put me in the channel - then the timer to "leave channel" just counts down over and over.
- the PSN party chat used to work (ie "prioritise game chat over party chat" setting) for both the party and for in-game grouping but no longer functions. If I want to actually participate in a group chat (IF it actually works) then I have to leave the PSN party.
A couple of examples:
We had a group going in IC Sewers a week ago. The group chat option did not appear in my menu - until I logged out and back in, and then partway through the session it kicked me out again.
We had a group in Cyro yesterday, again no group chat option.
