Is there interest from players in reworking the way weapon damage to players is done in a way that adds more diversity to builds and avoids power creep?
One thought might be to have weapons types do unique damage based on target armor. Slightly reduce the damage of weapons in general but then give a slight bonus based on type and armor of target.
Weapons fall into 1 of the following types
- Thrust - x% damage bonus to light armor
- Slash - x% damage bonus to medium armor
- Crush - x% damage to heavy armor
- Ice - x% damage bonus to light armor
- Flame - x% damage bonus to medium armor
- Lighting - x% damage bonus to heavy armor
There are some things that would need to be considered such as lightnighings AOE, flame's bonus, etc. but this might allow folks more diversity and another way to customize builds and be more specialized instead of constantly giving everyone more damage. Other games have done something similar.
