to flee or not to flee

the two options are to pay off and give up the loot or flee

well outside this is okay.. risk reward scenario.. fine

indoors.. die or give up loot.. Well kinda says you're boned doesn't it?

Why cant I open a door? Did my hands disappear? Do guards have the ability to make the knob or latch disappear?

    Let them chase you upstairs, jump off the second floor and try to open the door then. Or hide after you jump. Invisibility potions work wonders :)

    If you are in an large house you can often pull guard into one end and sprint to door and get out.
    This obviously works best on an stamina build.
    This is far easier if you fight an standard npc, its beneficial not to kill them as it increase bounty.
    Also because of thief guild rules.

    Else thank for the invisibility potion idea.

    Note that this is mostly important if you have found an +3K blueprint or recipe :)
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    One cannot open anything when they have been attacked very recently.

    Carry vanishing pots, use one and be evasive so not to be pulled out of stealth. Go through the door without issue.

    Don't use sprint. The guards will match your speed no matter if walking or running, and sprint will just waste stamina. Instead roll normal run, roll normal run, and so on until you have a decent lead on them.

    Funniest thing ever. Friend of mine got busted in the Orsinium Bank when he accidentally clicked something on the table by the bankers. He was literally running around for about 15 mins before he could lose the guards. Was like watching a Benny Hill episode..

    My warden can get away with no issues with sprint and bird of prey speed buff. I run at max mount speed. Guards have no chance to catch me.

    I always carry invis potions when thieving indoors. All you need to do is make sure you don't get hit for 5 seconds (so that you "exit combat" and can interact with the door - and the potion gives you this precious time). It also allows you to find a dark corner to hide, if the place is large enough.

    It's only an issue in very small rooms like the guild halls in Vivec City. Those are almost impossible to escape from without invisible potions.

    heh, dont get caught... You can't avoid it all the time. These are some great tips though.

    Use invisibility potions indoors and dodge their revealing flare, try using stairs to your advantage if there are any. Fleeing indoors is more difficult but not impossible.
    This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.
