Getting into Vet Trials - Stam DK

What gear do I need in order to get into Craglorn Vet Trials? I am currently a 425cp StamDK and have enough TFS to get rid of Spriggans but I am not seeing much VO gear dropping from the normals I keep running. Is it just a matter of getting to CP cap? Or can I run TFS and change my build in order to get groups?

Currently my setup is Veli/Spriggans/Hundings but I can now run Veli/TFS/Hundings. Do you recommend anything different?

Tfs and hundings should be fine. In terms of damage VO is very similar to hundings, maybe the same. VO just has extra sustain, but as stam DKs are strongest with a heavy attack rotation on dw bar you should be fine. VO comes in handy with solo content like vma.

Veli/TFS/Hunding's is very strong on basically every class. You shouldn't need VO due to the fact that Stam DKs have a full out heavy attack rotation and on top of that they have Battle Roar, which kinda makes them the best sustaining class.
Now my Stam DK is gathering dust because I just enjoy Stam NB and Temp too much to play anything else at the moment, I'll just show you a clip that gives a pretty good idea of the DPS Hunding's can put out:

And Hunding's is actually even stronger on DK, due to the increased amount of heavy attacks which scale pretty much only with weapon damage (for light and heavy attacks, 1 weapon damage = 40 stamina, for skills 1 weapon damage = 10 stamina).

So for now keep your current setup, its a very strong, classic setup, that is definitely viable for trials. As you get more CP and as you get into better raiding groups, you'll be able to start optimizing your raid setups with other stamina classes (someone wears NMG, someone wears Sunderflame, War Machine, etc.)

    Good luck! :)

My friend has a StamNB but only played PVP with it. Can you recommend an easier build just to get him started in Normal Trials? He's cp 175 but I can craft him almost anything or purchase from guild traders.

Veli/tfs/hundings will serve you well for now. Pushing for cp cap might be a better thing to shoot for. Another 200 cp will push you farther than small build changes, and once you start running vets, VO will drop like candy anyway. The extra points into the red tree will also help buffer the steeper learning curve stam deals with in vet trials. With your current setup, your biggest potential boosts are from cp, a maelstrom bow if you don't have one, and practice.

Hundings and night mothers gaze if your friend doesn't want to buy spriggans. If they don't have any monster sets then they can run two more pieces like Lekis for more damage or add more regen or stamina or whatever. Otherwise 1pc kragh is good paired with one piece veli/kena for single target damage. Selenes set works as does mephala now apparently.
