Ebonheart Chateau - unable to select furnishings

So i just bought this and went into the chateau tower and tried to put some pictures on the left hand wall. if you have surface drag on the picture frames are a good distance off the wall. So i turned surface drag off, pushed them back to wall and hung them. one in the left and right alcoves and 1 in the centre.
I decded to move the centre one but found i cannot select any of them. I put a candle on the stairs, can select that fine so its just that wall. I think that i can only select upto where it had the surface drag on, which is off the wall. by pushing them back the game as such cant see them.
