Patch notifications

Can you please send out an email to subscribers when new patches are posted?

Been a few times when I want to pop in for a few minutes between errands, only to find out I have an hour or so wait to download updates.

Gotta get my scamp mashing fix, ya know?

Pretty please?

There's a patch most weeks, Mondays for PC/Mac, I think later in the week for consoles.

If you don't log in often, assume there will be updates to download. At least open the launcher once a week to download that week's patch. You can't really want an email every week, when patching happens at the same time every week, surely?

Just the big ones.. like > 1GB . Hadn't noticed the patches were a weekly thing.. most don't seem to be that big.

Over the years there have been a few times when I wanted to log some time and couldn't due to a patch, when I could have initiated the update before starting on my other, higher priority, tasks, had I known.

I don't get to spend a lot of time on any given evening, so when I do get a chance, it's just a little frustrating having to wait on an unexpected update.

At least make the e-mail notifications optional, so those with far better awareness aren't bothered.

If you mean the major game update that occurred on Monday, they are quarterly and advertised in advance on the News page here.

LOL.. yeah, if I were one to keep abreast of all the current news, then I would be aware..

As you can tell from my massive post count I don't spend much time here.

I don't have time for forum banter and posturing.
I don't monitor what's going on in here.

All I do is play on occasion.

Is it too much to ask to receive an e-mail letting me know that there's a large update that will apply on a given date?

So, you're saying you can't visit the forums for 30 seconds out of your time (once a week) to see the posted patch notes?

Especially after you registered in the forums, found your way in here, and even started a new thread??

    It's a good idea.

Forums are poison for most people, primarily because of toxic folks that'll shoot down anything on the basis of their own personal experience, rather than having any logic or empathy toward what might be a better venue for others, or items like this that would actually grow a games transparency and communications, bettering their entire industry.

Heck, e-mails would be a good idea, if for no other reason than to allow folks to ACTIVELY avoid forums if they would prefer.

For what it's worth, the simplest solution may be to remember to open the launcher from time to time, and let it run. Even when you're not planning to play at that moment. It's what I do.

Zos posts planned patches and maintenance here in the forums. There is a banner at the top of the forums starting, usually, Saturday NA time zones stating the days and time the maintenance is planned to start. Of course unplanned maintenance can occur with shorter notice.

So, just check the forums on Sunday and you will usually find the plans.

It takes mere moments and does not require going through the forum threads itself. Pretty simple and easy.

I think between the forum pop ups, the patch banners and patch sub section (with download size) and published maintenance schedule we already have information overload on patches.

And it's healthy people come to the section of the forum where the patch notes love to learn what's changed.

Sure there would be no harm if an optional email could be turned on that something has been posted in the Patch Notes section of the forum. But it's overkill really.

    What Thrymbauld said.

I've been in other games and, yes, the forum can be a haven for a micro culture of intolerant trolls that derive some self-imposed sense of importance by slaying the arguments of others.

I have no time, nor desire, to play that game.

I'm 54 years old.. I don't need to try to remember to pop in here, check for updates, or remember to start the game on some specific day of the week.

I really don't think that asking for an e-mail alert is that intrusive.

    Have a nice day.
