Detection potions do not allow enemy player to be hit with attacks

When using a detection potion and spotting a player in stealth I am unable to attack him with certain skills such as critical rush. My character performed the animation, but there was no registered value recorded in my damage values such as a miss or dodged or a damage number. I know that the player had taken no damage because of the visible health bar .
