Spell Symmetry no longer procs the "Spell Absorption" passive of the Lady CP tree

Is this intentional? Last patch, casting Spell Symmetry- which is a skill that deals Oblivion Damage to yourself- would proc the "Spell Absorption" passive of the Lady CP tree if it took 30% of the caster's health. The passive itself states that it procs when you take Oblivion Damage (etc.) equal to 30% of your max health, so it is only natural that it would do so when Spell Symmetry is used. Now, it no longer does this. I and others are wondering why this has been changed, if it was indeed changed on purpose. Could some insight please be provided?

    This change has not been mentioned in patch notes, but it has indeed taken place. Spell symmetry still continues inflicting 6000 oblivion damage to yourself (if mages guild passives are not taken) and while spell absoption passive in lady tree remains unchanged to the eye, it no longer procs the passive if (health) requirements are met.
    The undocumented change or possibly bug (?) is really disappointing and ruins immersion, because oblivion damage coming from different sources are not treated equally, while being exact same damage type.

    @le_spy I hope it's just a bug. +1 to all that you've said, plus this was something that contributed to diversity in builds and gameplay. Using Spell Sym equated to a high risk/high reward playstyle and required (still requires) a good bit of skill to use effectively. Sacrifice a LOT of your health, and risk killing yourself, for Magicka in return. @ZOS_GinaBruno

    That is something that should've been looked at. I mean that trick was not an exploit or something that maked You brainlesly strong and You was always risking doing that so it required some "skill". It's really sad when bugs or unintentionall changes ruins skillfull playstyles.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom any news about that bug/change ?

    This was actually a deliberate change, but we accidentally missed the patch note for it. Environmental damage (such as lava or slaughterfish) and self-inflicted damage (such as Equilibrium) no longer cause Item Sets or passive abilities to proc.

    That is disappointing since it is risk vs reward. :(

    I understand these procs being removed out of combat, but in combat, there was always cost assigned to all of these effects, especially regarding spell sym + spell absoption, since you had to use it really smart due to you needing to at least lose 30% hp and having 50% less shield & heal strenght afterwards for 4 seconds, potentially risking your own death, there was clear risk and cost involved in it and risk vs reward, less unreliable playstyles, should be rewarded more than standard 'lets stack stats' playstyles that always work and are safe bets.

    Disappointing, that was a good risk-reward synergy. Please revert the change, don't take even more sustain out of the game, for the game's sake...

    Yeah, pretty disappointing I must say. Crossing my fingers that this change will be reconsidered. :( I understand the change (really, a bug fix) that was made concerning item sets, but I don't agree with self-inflicted damage no longer proccing this specific CP passive. Again and as others have said, it's a high risk, high reward playstyle that was unique in terms of dealing with sustain changes, and by no means was it broken or misused, in my opinion. By casting Spell Sym you are effectively taking Oblivion Damage, and should therefore trigger the passive if its stated requirements are met.

    sustain is the enemy to ZoS, they don't want the battles to last they want quick wins and deaths.
