Vma lightning staff

Hi guys
I've been storing a precise vma lightning staff in my bank which I got on my 3rd and last run (im purely a pvp player so i didn't really care about maelstrom drops).
With precise getting a bit of a buff next patch and pvp becoming a but stale I want to try my luck on the pve scene.
My concern is whether the vma lightning staff is a decent enough staff to backbar. I was always under the impression that a random fire staff is better backbar because Elemental Blockade does burning which increases damage? But then again lightning staffs have an aoe bonus.
Also heard most trials prefer sorcerers to backbar fire to not ruin the off balance passive.
Anywaus I'm just a pve noob looking for decent input on whether a vma lightning staff is decent.

Joosef_Kivikilpi✭✭✭✭I use a Powered VMA Lightning Staff. Pown everything in site for PVE. I don't use it for PVP. haha unless I'm trolling around
