So, if you have the Morrowind chapter, you're automatically dumped into Vvardenfell after making a new character. Would you rather have the choice to start in the 'Vanilla' starting zone too?

No, I'm fine with being dumped straight into Vvardenfell.

I got an extra skill point with the new characters dumped into Vvardenfell, so I'm fine with it.

I dont see a problem, to be honest. Its pretty easy to just walk to Seyda Neen wayshrine and port to the first alliance zone.

I don't have a huge issue with it, but I'd prefer to have a choice.

They could just add a new set of Icons at the bottom of the character creation screen when you choose race/alliance (Ouroboros for vanilla start, Morrowind symbol for MW start, etc.) to let you choose your start type. Eventually I feel that they will have to do this if other chapters also provide a new starting location.

It's not a deal-breaker for me (obviously) but I would like to have the choice.

I tried all kinds of ideas to make going to Morrowind then immediately returning to the mainland fit into my warden's backstory but nothing made any sense so eventually I resorted to pretending it didn't happen, she's never been to Morrowind and all the stuff with the slavers will happen when she starts that quest.

I hate ignoring things that happened in the game when making up a backstory but anything else was a jumbled mess and I wasn't willing to scrap the entire character concept and start over just because ZOS were scared newbies might be confused by a choice of 2 spawn locations.

Jumping on a ship to start somewhere else takes me a couple of minutes at most, so i'm fine with starting in Vvardenfell. Conversely, I wouldn't be bothered if it was the other way round. On my list of things I find irritating in life, this doesn't feature.

    Choices are good!

I'd love them to add a new starting location with each expansion, but allow you to choose from all of the available starting locations and stories when you create new characters. Like the Alternate Start mod for Skyrim, or creating a character in Dragon Age Origins, multiple starting locations and stories are fun and help make your character feel more unique right from level 1 =)

I really wish they'd make that extra skill point available to characters not created in morrowind. It makes my main feel incomplete.

Had no idea who the hell that Naryu chick was, and in spite of that, she continuously flirted and acted like we knew each other. So yeah, I'm not sure why they even did a new tutorial to begin with. Probably to try and make it seem like more than what it actually is, which is a DLC.

Doesn't really matter that much. If someone doesn't like starting a new character in Vvardenfell just go to the Wayshrine and start somewhere else.

Two different story lines. Each should have an elegant way of integrating into the other at a later time.

The way you are reintroduced into the original wailing prison is lame and lacking creativity, at best.

    Story writers can do better.

Exception: If you're starting a Warden, it makes a bit more sense that VV would be your origin.

It's not entirely game-breaking that I get to keep my soul and everyone treats me like I'm something special when I am not. A few characters I'm saving the benefactor quest until level 50 so all the rewards, though useless, will be 160cp.

"Ah, you're the one I've been looking for."

Um. Why? I'm pretty sure anybody anywhere would have worked out just fine for where we're headed with this, but you're standing by the wayshrine waiting for me, a lvl 3 who hasn't even found Glutton in the alleyway yet?

It IS cool they can use that whole scene with whatshisname now though. Much more involving than just *poof* you're in the Wailing Prison.

I think the new way to start the main quest is better, but...

It would be better if we were stripped naked again and let loose in the Wailing Prison. Then our stuff could reappear in the container we receive on starter island.

It just doesn't make sense we would get all our stuff in the prison.

I've started 4 new characters since Morrowind was released, and I think only one started there (Warden). The others started in their normal starting area.

I prefer to have a choice.

Since I just joined this game 2 weeks ago by buying Morrowind... it was a bit jarring to be tossed into a zone that is clearly made for people who have already done a lot of earlier content and so know a lot of the lore and the way the game works.

Some things were thrown to me too quickly (a major city just "right there" with all kinds of stuff in it), and other things were flat out missing (Undaunted who? Alliance war? Alliance specific lore?).

It's a better tutorial for actual newbs. Still not great, but better! I'm glad it's the default start for them.

And I like it, it's a little more fun and a lot prettier than the Wailing Prison. The wayshrine is what, twenty steps from where you end up in Vvardenfell? You can port to whatever starting zone, start the MQ, and pretend Vvardenfell never happened, if you want.

It's not better for newbs because of the new "hidden skill line" malarkey.

Oh yeah, that's some ***. But they get that wherever they drop. Same with the person above who noted that the game really doesn't explain jack to people. Yep. How it's been, and how it remains. Welcome to ESO!
