First off, I realize that running an unreleased version of Windows 10 means I will find bugs. So I am not complaining, I am merely reporting an issue that I am seeing in the hopes it gets fixed before the Fall Creators Update gets released. This behavior has been happening since I upgraded to a Fast Ring version of Win 10 Insiders a couple of months ago.
I am a little unsure of exact versions but as far as I can recall, it was fine around April/May this year but subsequently broke. I know it to be an artifact of the newer builds because when it occurred, I rolled back the version of Windows 10 and the issue went away. If I then let the update feature go ahead and install a newer version, the problem would come back. I would rollback and it went away, rinse repeat. I am currently seeing it occur in the latest Insider build, Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16251 for PC.
Also, I am not sure if it's a Windows 10 issue or a TESO issue.
What happens?
The camera "moves" when a dialog or other overlay gets invoked. For instance, if I am standing there with the camera basically behind me and "level" with the ground (normal 3rd-person view) and I bring up the Map (press M), when I dismiss the map, the camera will not be behind me anymore. Sometimes it is "higher", as in I am now looking DOWN on my character from a higher point. Sometimes it completely turns my character around and I am pointing in a different direction than I was before. If I keep doing it, the camera goes higher and higher until it's directly overhead.
The same thing occurs with almost any overlay like when the loot window pops up or I hit K or J or any other view outside just viewing my character in 3rd-person.
My hardware is:
- 5th gen Core i5
- MSI motherboard with up-to-date bios
- 8gb RAM
- Geforce 760GTX video card
- Microsoft wired USB 2.0 mouse. It's fairly old (like 2-3 years) but I have also tried a Logitech and another even older MS Mouse and they are all the same.
- Logitech keyboard - basic wired USB
Like I said, this all works fine on Windows Insiders builds from earlier in the year (both before and after the Creators Update came out in April, as far as I recall). I have been running Windows Insider for a long time (since before Win10 was even released originally) and this is the first time I have encountered a bug that seems to be program-specific. By that I mean, I see no issues in any other games I am playing... only Elder Scrolls Online.
