Impenetrable

Quick mag sorc question, how many pieces of armor should I have as impen in pvp since shields can't be crited. My shields won't be up 100% so I think I'll atleast need a few. But the question is how much and what other trait should I use.

My first thought is your not going to always have shields up.

You can perform well as a sorc with no impen pieces. You will be vulnerable when they drop, but very few builds can do 21k+ in the time it takes to break free and recast as long as you have a shield on both bars. Occasionally you'll run into that person: careful timing and avoidance works; but then again, I don't aim to play an unkillable sorc. I stay in the middle between damage and recoverability.

howdy @SameMeteor26 ...have you given the impregnable armor set a close look?

it allows for the use of other (read: infused) armor traits...

    ugh, i'm a bit of a gear junkie :(

    Impregnable Armor Set
(2 items) Adds 1064 Max Health
(3 items) Adds 967 Max Stamina
(4 items) Adds 967 Max Magicka
(5 items) Adds 2500 Critical Resistance

    it comes in light/medium/heavy...

not too costly at guild stores...you can "farm" it in Battlegrounds...

personally, i mostly play CP pvp (except for Battlegrounds)...so, i go with 2 offensive (Grothdar and Spinners) and 1 defensive set: impregnable armor...

thankfully, i haven't had to equip a sustain set yet...

Really you just want wards up 100%. Of they are gunna be down ur dead fast. Could try Impen on small and roll Infused on big to bump the magika I guess.

The players that destroy other players all typically go all out in a certain direction. Like mag sorcs that cap magicka and use no impen.

Trying to have a bit of everything as a sorc ends up with a mediocre build. If you are going to shield, boost shields and don't spec for spillover damage.

I would keep critical resist at 1800 as a minimum. Id be comfortable at 2100 (30%) or more. Whenever possible on a build I usually land on 2500.

okay, yeah - if you're part of that 5% or so of the pvp player base which mostly melts down everyone else - sure - go big magicka or go home...

for the vast majority, which is the rest of us - better to be the rezzer than the rezzee all the time...much more fun and less frustration to be able to stay standing and fighting...

sure, we all die in the end - middle and beginning of gameplay...but, unless you have a really good grasp of all the different mechanics and synergies going on - if you're wearing bed sheets to battle, best to line them with as much crit resistance as possible...

    don't tease - whatcha got to say @Aussiedriftr ?

every one here on the forums was a shriven soul at one point...

trust me - whether you've been playing eso since beta, or, just picked the game up - no way your comments could be more clueless than mine :p

still remember one of my first threads was written to espouse the virtues of lightening staves - claimed they were the greatest weapon in the game...hmmmmm, maybe I wasn't so clueless...
