My character was flying. (And no he wasn't on drugs)

So today I was in Stonefalls and i stepped off a ledge and then my character started floating (running) forward way up off the ground enough to kill me if I fell and I had no control over him at all except I could spin around. He did this all the way to ash mountain where he ran into a cliff and got stuck and I couldn't do anything except as previously stated. I was able to finally teleport to a wayshrine eventually once it recognized I was standing on something. At first I couldn't even teleport. This happened once before but I was able to jump and stop him. Any insight as to what causes this? And if it helps I play on a console so I have no add-ons.
