Disconnected while using wayshrines, game doesnt notice

This has been randomly happening for a while but it doesnt happen often.
Use wayshrine, pick destination and hit go. get loading screen. and thats it.
Usually i'll right click and close after a min or two and it does. no errors, no nothing. just goes. reload and its fine and im at destination.
This time, i decided to leave it going. 15min or so and its still going. spinning circle still spinning. Im obviously disconnected from the game yet the client hasnt even noticed.
There was zero disruption to my internet. Im using a vpn and it would drop if my internet did. Im posting this on the same computer too.
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Nvidia gtx970. 381.65 drivers (pretty sure iv updated since last time this happened)
