Is housing dying?

I ask this because seems hardly anyone on PC NA is selling materials anymore. Also seems like some people just gave up? What are your thoughts?

I actually never saw the point in housing. It doesn't offer teleports and buffs like guild houses do in other mmorpgs. It doesn't do anything that properties do in other games.

What do people do with housing?

Roleplay? You can use it as a free teleport to a convenient city I suppose.

I don't think it's dying. I see mats, blueprints and furnishings in guild stores all the time. In zone chat too.

It's not dying, just sort of done. Most people have the houses they want and are more or less done decorating them. Materials and plans are plentiful and cheap for anyone who is still working through it. Like anything else new, the demand and price for housing stuff was really high at first, and drops way, way down when the hype settles.

The demand might spike again if housing storage is ever introduced.

Demand is just down, so prices have plummeted. Most people have completed their house(s) by now.

Housing is rough because ZOS gives us 1/4 of the slots we need to decorate houses properly. Please vote and leave a comment on that thread.

Housing matts do not sell for much. I just collect them in my crafting bag. OMG, Love that crafting bag.

Besides, Housing was poorly implemented to begin with. Really no reason to decorate other than personal desire or a trophy room for serious PvE players.

Myself, I just wanted the DPS Dummy.

Unfortunately they pushed these out and had little plans on improvement. There will be new houses on the horizon, pretty little pixels too collect. Certainly a nice feature added to the game, though, without lasting value. I just wish they had more use and the company had a vision on how to make housing an epic experience.

I use my houses for convenience. I have all the crafting stations and a vendor in my house. I'm going to add a target dummy and a banker. I also use my houses as my own personal teleport network - free teleports without a wayshrine.There are cheap houses all over Tamriel, so it doesn't cost much to create your own teleport network.

Housing is like art. Those who don't get it scratch their head and ask what's the point.

There are houses out there that blow my mind; they are so creative and...genius. Like this guy, who built a toilet out of random stuff he crafted.

That's the point. For me, I love being creative and building things. It's a creative outlet. It's Legos for adults.

It's also convenient. While I'm waiting for a group or a cue I'm just chillin in my house, moving stuff here, adjusting things there. All my friends do the same thing....but we all have <30-50 slots left so things are slowing down.

I don't think housing is dead. All the housing peeps like myself are out of room...as soon as ZOS increases the furniture limit the mats will skyrocket as people remodel and expand their furnishings. Now is a good time to buy mats.

Since housing was added I've collected hundreds and hundreds of housing items. I think it's more of a pain to sell really, unless it's actually a rare item. The loot drop on housing items seems pretty high IMO, and for that reason, I suspect players either toss it, save it or use them. More things IMO to focus on selling than a common house item. But that's just me...

Housing started to die the moment we realized it was all just a gimmick.

The thing that made me feel meh about housing despite really looking forward to it was the price of well everything. Feels like I gotta play the horrible guild stores just to make SOME money to be able to afford one, or of course spend real life money. I can spend a ton of hours in a housing system, I've done it before in other MMOs.. but yeah, the pricing, and the very limited decoration space just kill it for me, a filthy casual.

It's thriving in the RP community, thanks to housing that part of the game just blossomed, even a crusty old gamer like me has got in on it

The changed the listing of housing materials with Morrowind, giving them a new category in the trades. But that only applies to newly listes trades, the old one will remain under the old categories. A very stupid change that very few people know of ....

Hey, there are still patches to come, lets hope that they add some utility to houses. I mean I'd like to see storage, free teleports, some kind of other stuff that actually makes you want to have a house for non-RP purposes. Like some actual useful stuff. And stuff that's not only useful to yourself, but also to your guild members you know

I would buy and decorate a lot more houses, if it weren't such a grind for furnishing materials. Even though I feel they drop better now. I have one nice house, that looks like I want it to, others I'm too exhausted to do properly.

If your using AGS while trying to search for furnishing mats turn it off while searching or use the ALL option to search for them
