VMA.......AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Build is a mage sorc, first time this week trying vma, I started and got to the forth round without dying or using any sigils, well I thought I was awesome then my entire world came crashing down. I was running, 5 juli, 3 aether, 3 willpower. After a few completely pathetic attempts I read up on the internet and switched to a pet build spending a ridiculous amount on various full golded sets which I decided on necropotence, infernal guardian and willpower. Actually worked staying on the opposite end of the map allowed the ig procs to target the boss well as dropping the destruction ulti in well positioned places. Did frozen rink fairly easily, same with spiral shadow. Then stage 7 boss came a long, after dying about 100 times trying to bash his scream on it I switched back to a solo build and did it pretty easily apart from deaths from those stupid spores. Switched back to pet build round 8 not a single death ez pz and then finally the last stage, got to the boss and attempted it for 3 hours straight, 99% of deaths from necrotic swarm. I don't care about the weapon anymore, I just want to beat him and then never even think about vma again. Please someone give me the easiest build, sets, skills and cp distribution (cp 450) because I can't enjoy anything else in this game till I have done it!
p.s will it stay on stage 9 forever if I leave it?

You will stay on stage 9 when you leave but if you get to the last boss, it will start you back at the beginning of the stage, not the final round of the stage.

    Final Boss:

Phase 1: Save ult for when the Daedroth spawns

Phase 2: Use Speed/stam pots. The extra stam for the dodge rolls to avoid his skull attack, and major expedition to get around easy. Always run counter clockwise to get to the wall.

Phase 3: Grab defensive sigil immediately so you can ignore his channel attack, then grab all the other sigils. Burn the boss, but MAKE SURE YOU GRAB ALL 3 GOLD GHOST. Use the ghost synergy and burn the boss.

It'll stay on stage 9, but if you leave you'll have to do the rounds before the boss, again, to get back to him.

My magsorc build for completing VMA is:
    5 pc Netch's Touch
    5 pc Spider Cultist
    1 pc Kena

This build makes the destruction staff ultimate absolutely lay waste. I use pets and class shield on both bars, with Elemental Blockade, Liquid Lightning, Streak, and Boundless Storm.

The biggest thing for the final boss is to memorize his rotation. He basically does the same rotation all the time.

After completing the crystals up top, go for the bash against his ranged attack, grab the 1st golden ghost, drop your AOEs on any necromancer heading to the middle, grab the 2nd golden ghost, probably ready to bash boss again, finish off necromancer in middle, streak to grab 3rd golden ghost, use the spectral explosion (this should also stun the daedroth that just spawned), drop your AOE destruction ultimate on the boss and daedroth, and grab the damage sigil to amplify it even more. Then go all out dropping damage on boss and bashing/grabbing golden ghosts if need be until he's dead.

Necrotic Swarm is the last boss's channeled ability I believe. When he holds his staff over his head. It's similar to what the Pyromancers do in Arena 8. You have to bash him, or the damage ramps up to an instakill. I'd you're not using Crushing Shock, then you'll need to actually run up to him and bash him. He does this attack right after teleporting away from the center at the beginning and again after teleportimg down when you break the crystals, and then periodically after that.

On the 7th arena boss, don't use your Familiar Damage Pulse when his adds are up. As soon as he enrages, you need to get into into the protective bubble the add put up and you cannot stun the boss or he will instakill you.

Your problem is not your build, it's just learning mechanics and when stuff will happen. Keep at it!

Bashing the boss on stage 7 during the scream phase enrages him. I'm surprised you got it done that way on your first run.

Don't worry about it, I originally thought the same (with Necropotence). Netch's Touch is perfect for Sorcerer because pretty much every attack you'll use in VMA, plus your pet attacks, uses shock damage. Spider Cultist is really easy to farm, as Fungal Grotto is easy to farm.

sorry op, its all about repetition. mag sorc pet build is one of the easiest to run it on, but you do have less resources in morrowind. i would say watch a video like the one above and keep trying. make sure you throw in those heavy attacks and stack shields through the swarm..

on another note, and i haven't tested this, but the couple times ive done it after morrowind, it seemed like if i didnt kill the deadroth the swarm was worse.. idk if this is just coincidence, or because my warden is new so dps is less than my usual characters..

and we all say that when trying to finish it for the first time.. i did to.. now ive run it, id guess, over 200 times ( having 90% of my drops be bows, literally!!!) good luck.

Switch to Crushing Shock for VMA, you'll thank me later.

As others have said, the final boss is all about memorizing the spawns/phases of the fight and when to use the various resources available to you. How far into the fight are you making it? That would help with narrowing down what you should work on/strategize for.

Also, I don't recommend interrupting the 7th round boss, the fight is much easier without him being enraged (he hits much harder).

Also, for future endeavors... always try a set at purple before golding it out. If it doesn't work for you at purple, it wont work for you at gold. The increase in damage/stats is marginal in almost every case. (Excluding weapons, always gold weapons)

No the undaunted passives won't make or break you. I've always steered clear of pets so I can't really help you with the bar setup there, but there are plenty of resources out there you could consult. A quick google search would turn up a few that would work fine for VMA. alcasthq.com, youtube, and plenty other places you could look.

Hahaha yeah already had the other morph active when I got to the final boss so couldn't switch it without leaving and resetting the stage, know better now but think I'm gonna leave it a while. I chilled out in Morrowind for a bit and I've calmed down a bit :)

That's an interesting idea must have been tough though to get the sharp lightning staffs
    @Darnathian
    It's actually really easy!

This Sharpened Lightning staff drops in Fungal Grotto 2!

Ty. Got it first run tonight. Cant get the neck tho. Maybe i will try to get the netch neck. Which is easier? Also 1 or 2?

There's no guaranteed neck drop in either dungeon, but Fungal Grotto 1 is one of the quickest and easiest dungeons to complete.

Here is a list of items you can get (scroll down to Fungal Grotto in dungeons section).

That build ur using... do u miss illambris?

Nope, between Elemental Blockade, the Scamp AOE pulse, and Liquid Lightning, I don't really need it. I'd prefer to have the insane Ultimate damage that benefits from both 5 pc sets.

Its the mechanics that are most important. I just do vma in my regular trials setup just switch around some skills. Its memorizing spawns that will help you most. Keep at it, dont give up and have a glass of wine nearby. If you are over 21 that is.

I actually found vma easier post Morrowind for some reason. I'm not sure if it was due to the damage creep from the cp increase/addition of man at arms star or that I am more experienced with the mechanics now. I was actually able to finish the arena in one go which is a first for me.

I'm having trouble with just stage 2. I currently use 5 Necro/3 Willpower/ 3 Julianos with sharpened staves. I have 18k health and 42k magicka fully buffed all attributes in magicka except 4 in health. Can someone please tell me the skills he's using on each bar? I can't seem to see them well enough to figure it out, it would be greatly appreciated

**I also don't have the undaunted passive unlocked yet so everything is light armor. Do i need that unlocked to seriously have a chance at completing VMA? Just want to know instead of wasting my time and getting frustrated

    @PocketAces13xb
If you can manage to get Grothdarr head and shoulders, it's the best monster set for Sorcs in vMA. I run two lightning staves.

For my pet build, my bars are set up like this:
1: Endless Fury, Empowered Ward, Volatile Familiar, Twilight Matriarch, Inner Light, Elemental Rage
    2. Liquid Lightning, Blockade of Storms, Volatile Familiar, Twilight Matriarch, Daedric Prey, Energy Overload
OL: Power Surge, Dark Conversion, Volatile Familiar, Twilight Matriarch, Empowered Ward

Lots of low health mobs can be taken out with Light Attack, Endless Fury, Heavy Attack.

I get 55000 scores with this setup.
