Julianos vs War Maiden (mag sorc)

Magicka Sorc here.

Wondering if anyone has done the math on whether War Maiden or Julianos is better for DPS.

Primarily interested in non-CP PvP and I don't use Mage Light (so no passive buff to Spell Crit).

My hunch is that without Mage Light, the extra Crit chance from Julianos outweighs the extra 230 spell damage you get from War Maiden.

This is my current build. Any feedback is welcome, but I'm especially interested in whether War Maiden would be better for me.

    War Maiden is a wasted set on a sorc, not enough abilities that do magick damage, far better on a Magblade or Magplar. So go julianos

    You dont have enough magic dmg ability. So its useless

    War maiden is worth little to a sorc. "Magic damage" refers the element of Magic, not all spells, so it would not do anything for liquid lightning, light/heavy attacks, mages wrath, or any of your destruction staff skills.

    It would, but that's about it. Accounts for a fraction of your total dps.

    yes, but you're restricting the rest of your build just for those two abilities (one of which you need rng to proc before casting or its useless), Netches touch would be far better for a Magsorc than War Maiden

    Not worth slotting to boost 2 skills only and do so by only 100 spell damage compared to Julianos. And the extra crit is good on sorc since you will heal from it. Also the crit part on your harder hitting abilities will not be fully mitigated by impen so it's a net DPS increase.

    Ok so, *if* i read btwn lines and see you planning a burst or die/flee build focusing on slamming frags and curse wiyh something (soul assault? Idk) then maybe war maiden has value but outside of that kind of quickie combo julianos broader scope bonus is going to prove superior.

    I see WM as a set you can build for but outside of some Templar and NB plans its not going to support a broad spproach in a variety of circumstances.

    Got a magic dmg execute? Yeah, serves a purpose.

    Got a magic damage killer burst combo? WM plus Clever might be your huckleberry.

    But outside a specific build for limited circumstance, not a fan.

    I'm running Lich/BSW/EG still. I see other MagSorcs with pets which are using Necro. I still see Sorcs with Spinners and Julianos too.

    Amberplasm is the new in thing I keep hearing about, and have seen not only MagSorc's, but other Mag classes using this as well.

    He reason why war mainden is bad is that any elemental damage some loses out on the bonus spell damage.

    It's why sets like that proc extra spell damage vs static spells damage for limited skills is better.

    For a mag Sorc this is compounded. I don't see how a mag Sorc can have a build that avoids or mostly avoids elemental damage. DKs are probably the only class that does more elemental damage.
