Weird stuff going on with game client. Now I'm just pissed as hell! ***UPDTATE***

Seriously, what the hell is going on!? It started the day before yesterday, where my launcher didn't show the 'play' option, but automatically started downloading (seemingly) the whole game all over again, including some patches. So I tried launching the game from the "The elder scrolls online" folder, directly from the exe file. That totally worked and was able to play. For some reason there was also a "The elder scrolls online EU" folder, but there wasn't much in that folder. So anyway, I decided this wasn't the way to keep doing it, so I repaired the whole launcher. Multiple 40 gigabite downloads later, the game is done downloading and I can play it just fine, no problems. Up until here, I managed to work my way into the game again. Just a bit of a hassle.

Then today. I launch the game from the desktop shortcut. It starts with a really small patch AND a message that I had apparently played the game on both US and EU server, and which addon profile I want to choose... Really weird because I never ever chose to play on US. Is this related to directly launching through the exe file from the "The elder scrolls online" folder? If so, why didn't I have that issue yesterday when I played it again after repairing?

So Anyway, I choose EU. I notice I am forced to watch the entire intro, and get the screen where you have to set up your brightness. At this point i'm starting to get concerned. After that, I log into the game. It gives me the Morrowind intro... Which I had already watched before. Then I had to do the entire code of conduct again. I get into the character screen. First, I'm relieved that my characters are still there. But then I notice the graphics are on default. So I put everything back where it was, and log into one of my characters.

This is the point where I become really pissed. I see ALL my addons are disabled. Not just disabled I find out later, NO they are gone! I have "allow out of date addons" tagged on. But even in Minion addon they are all gone! I have no idea what happened to my game/account. It all started with the weird thing where I had to completely redownload the game, about which I started a thread: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/351986/game-launcher-keeps-redownloading#latest It got no response.

I would really appreciate it if someone would shed some light on what the hell is going on here, because I am NOT going to redownload all the addons I had and setting them up again on all my characters. Seriously, I'm not going through all that again.

Sounds like the file that keeps all your user settings and addons are not where the game expects them to be. I'm doubting they are deleted the game just can't see them.

There's been some issue with Windows 10/One Drive and ESO when a clean install of ESO is looking at the OneDrive folder for this stuff and not the 'User/name/Documents/' path.

Seems if the game thought it needed to reinstall itself this could be the issue.

Look in your documents/eso/ folder for addons and see if they are actually there.

@Sigtric Thank you for your response. I am indeed using windows 10.

I went to: Documents > Elder Scrolls Online > live_archive > Addons. They are luckily still all there. In the "Elder Scrolls Online" folder there was also a folder named "live", which contained the same folders as the "live_archive" folder, like Screenshots, Saved Variables, etc. But these folders are completely empty. Don't know if that means something though?

Any known fix for this issue, or folders/files that I have to move?

Make a copy of the stuff in the archive/addons folder to the live/addons folder. Should be good to go there.
You'll also need to copy the saved variables folder too if that was moved as well (this is all the addon settings you've changed)

Why it happened in the first place I don't know.

Once you get the stuff working you could probably then just delete the archive if you need to free up the space

@Sigtric Is it also possible to just delete the live folder and rename the archive one to "live"? Or do I have to copy+paste everything from the archive folder into the live folder? Just an FYI: The live_archive folder was created on 22-2-2016. Probably a date where I reinstalled the game, and also the folder the game has been using for some time apparently. The live folder is created tonight at 22:00.

You could probably do it that way, keep the current folder though don't delete, just rename it to live_old or something. In case something goes wrong.

@Sigtric Thanks a lot dude, for your quick and helpful responses! Didn't expect it to be this easy. Everything seems back in order the way it was. I've been having issues before with folders and files not being where they were supposed to be. Especially saved variables. I really need to remember how these things work.

Glad you got it worked out

Sometimes ESO launcher just goes stupid and reinstalls the game. Not sure why. I had it do it to me a couple summers ago.

Coming in here for an update @ZOS_GinaBruno. First I got error 210. Then I restarted PC and tried again. And once again after a maintenance patch I have to completely reinstall the *** game. A ton of MB's. Just great. How many times will this happen? The launcher in this game never fails to amaze me.
