Gear/Weapon Question

Hi,

I played back in 2015 and then left, returned about three months ago.

Due to medical reasons, I play solo. Mainly ranged characters with a pet for tanking. My primary character is a magsorc with the clannfear, and my second character is a Warden with the bear. My magsorc is cp225. I killed the end boss back in 2015, and then finished the Cadwell Silver and Gold quests when I returned recently. Even though I only do 1359 spell damage, I can kill most enemies - it just takes a while kiting them around. Obviously, I need better equipment. My armor right now is all self-found/drops, all light armor, and is the Ysgramor's Birthright Set, which isn't bad, but can obviously be better. I did get quite a few upgrades during Cadwell's quests, but it's mainly low-level stuff.

So questions:

1. Where do I go to grind/farm for better armor? I don't have a problem doing this, as long as I have a chance at better gear. It has to be somewhere where I can go and not die every 2 minutes.

2. Same question for destro/healing staffs.

Also, regarding staffs, I read some posts where it seemed that players were talking about dual wielding staffs. Is that possible, and if so, how? Or were they talking about the destro and healing staff bar setup.

Also, what would the approx cost be if I ask someone to make a light armor set, and what set should it be?

Once I get a little bit better gear that does more damage, then I can go grind/farm somewhere else for even better stuff (wherever that is??). I'm currently questing in Craglorn, but there were only 3 delves/dungeons I could solo, so I can't finish most of the quests, and have no idea where to go from here.

Thanks for any help.

Well, making gear can be both easy and or time consuming. There are many guides online that can help you if you are looking to craft. Just google crafting eso.

The fastest and most enjoyable way for you since you like solo play likely will be to grind dungeons or delves that offer nice sets for your class. For pet builds, from what ive read, necropotence can be a really nice set and these drop for free from rivenspire area (details: http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Necropotence+Set). There are tons of different great sets that drop from regions or delves so take a look :)

After that you can work towards either soloing or playing in a group to farm dungeons for sets like the mage or lich sets. And then (or as you grind since getting crafting up can take a long time) crafting if you would like to upgrade the gear or make different sets. Just sure to keep the gear drops you get to decompose for materials later!

You cant dual wield two staffs at once. Yet. But i will be the first to do it if it ever becomes possible...

Go with a crafted 5 piece set like Julianos, its easy to get. You can pair it with 3pc willpower jewelry and 2 pc illambris monster set for a decent DPS loadout. Julianos is craftable at 6 traits, willpower jewelry comes from daily random dungeons, and monster masks and shoulder come from undaunted daily. Its what I currently use and sit around 2800 spell damage, enchant jewelry with spell damage glyphs for more. Hope this helps!

Also I dual wield fire and lightning staves...

Did some research, found a map with a route for chests, overland bosses, etc. Very interesting. RNG did not favor me today (two green and one blue Necro shoe). Also got some pieces from other sets.

I have a question. The Necro set provides a tremendous magicka/mana increase via its individual pieces. Does that do anything except provide a larger magicka/mana pool?

Because I already have over 27k-28k magicka and I don't remember the last time I ran out during a fight. I've seen at least one other set (can't remember the name) that also has some magicka increase, but also increases spell damage twice. It seems to me, that my magsorc who only does 1359 damage would profit more from this other set (there is an increase in magicka, just not as much as with the Necro set). If there was a connection between increased magicka also increasing damage I could see the Necro set as being superior.

Please let me know what you think?

    Thanks.

If you are on PS4 NA I will craft you any set you want and purple it out for you. Just toss me what you can afford to give (mats, gold, or a simple thank you will suffice).

Max resource (magi or stam) increases the damage of all skills that use that attribute. With necropotence and inner light slotted you can get 45k+ magicka and do significantly more damage. I think 11 magicka equates to 1 spell damage.

I reference this doc a lot to look at what sets can be found in each location 1T item sets

@ Diminish. Thank you, but I'm a PC player.

@ Tannus15 - So there is a connection between an increased amount of resource and damage. So even figuring the increase you mention - 11 magicka = 1 spell damage - would be a great increase going from my current 26k to the number that you used (45k).

I was looking at one set that had a two-time increase in damage (depending on color about) 150 points each for 3-4 pieces of armor, and the last item with a spell damage increase over 310 points for 5 pieces.

Thanks for the info and the spreadsheet, that's something I will use often.

On my Warden, I had an increase in magicka (1400 point increase), and my spell damage/staff damage remained the same.

So, I'm not sure that the connection between resource and damage exists.

Without more details, I'm relatively sure that set doesn't exist.

Julianos is the set with a straight spell damage up effect. At CR160, in Gold, this works out to be either 300, or 299. But, the other effects are Spell Crit x2, and Max Magicka. I'm pretty sure there isn't a Spell Damage x2, set with Spell Damage as it's final bonus. Spell Pen? Sure, but not damage.

It absolutely does. It doesn't get added to the flat value listed on your main character sheet, but it is added to your abilities. If you equip items that increase your magicka, you'll see the difference on their tooltips.
