Morrowind and New/Returning Players

nathanthehawkerb16_ESO
Hello, I've been trying and failing to get back into ESO for some time, I don't know what it is I just feel somewhat overwhelmed with the options on where to place my skill points. Anyway Morrowind releases tomorrow and I'm considering at least giving it a go and was wondering whether it would be available for characters right from the get go.

Also, if it's available to new characters, are there any benefits or drawbacks of getting involved straight away?

(As a side note, if anyone has any advice on how to get out of this sort of decision paralysis that would be awesome. Whenever I level a new character I find it hard to know where to put my skill points because I just want to try everything... then I see someone else using a different build and want to try that so I constantly reroll lol its awful. I've never had this in any other MMO).

Yes, if you have the Morrowind upgrade your existing characters can be played there.

Yes, you can also create a new character and start there right away. That's what I did.

The drawbacks to starting there are: the region is pretty light on resource nodes, skyshards, and mage guild tomes. So you will be behind in crafting, skill points and mage guild skill line. You also will not level up "Soul Magic" skill line at all, as it is leveled from the main quest line in the standard regions.

There's also a fair amount of (Intimidate) and (Persuade) conversation options that new characters won't be able to take advantage of, because skill points are slow to come in Vvardenfell and you don't really have any to spare for those Mage guild and Fighter guild passives

If you creating a new toon you better level it up doing quests on vanilla zones. I have finished Morrowind on my new warden and only got it to level to 12 at most (even when I kill everything). Although there are several quests, you don't get the same leveling experience like in the vanilla zones. Quests in that zone are pretty long and just give a handful of experience upon completion.

I recommend you level up to lvl30 and try to open up Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild skill lines. They aren't mandatory but for certain quest parts they will make much more easier to do.

Thanks very much guys. Shame that it's not particularly newbie friendly but that's to be expected really! Guess I'll level elsewhere :)

I would have to disagree on the resource nodes, as there are plenty there. My first few days, I didn't see that many but the past three days they are every where. Probably just other players getting to them before you got there, as there were a lot of people in zone. Vvardenfell, is one zone, so you can expect to get 10 levels from it, more if you have exp buff/bonus. So, you will still have to level in other zones, too.

I can get from lvl3 to lvl10 in 30 minutes on any vanilla zone. I got to lvl10 in Vvanderfell after several hours.

Yea, leveling a new character in Vvardenfell is much, much slower. I, too, would recommend going to the starting areas for your alliance as a new player and coming back to Vvardenfell later on.
