Upgrading your armor level. I've had this idea for a while now... What do you guys think of it?

Upgrading/Improving your armor.
I hate it when I have to make a whole new set because the old one is becoming too low level. Especially when I make it a full blue colored set.

So my idea is, Why not let us improve/upgrade it's level? Give the people the ability to upgrade it at a workbench just like in Skyrim but then with levels! And to tackle upgrading iron to steel make it so that when you reach iron armor level 14 you unlock a perk to "scrap" the old armor into new armor taking away maybe %20 of the required materials for steel armor.

Also there could be a perk which gives you like less durability damage or something because you are used to wearing that armor, because it fits you.

I apologize for my grammar mistakes. English is not my native language but I really wanted to post this, so it might even become something real one day. Thank you for reading.

Kind regards,

Personally I have always wondered why we can't have this for all armours (including dropped) as if you request a chunk or materials it keeps costs up.

This means lower level players can sell good items and not throw them away. All older materials have value again as needed to upgrade each tier, and more!

Therefor the edit below the post. To keep a balance you have to grind for "unique" gear. But not for crafted sets, they only require materials.

    A great suggestion

Unfortunately there's quite a few issues that ZOS should focus on fixing/addressing before concentrating on new stuff, like lag/performance, group/dungeon finder, broken trials on consoles, etc.

Generally games developers will try both at the same time though.

I mean they can't afford to only do bug fixes because that's not where their revenue is after two updates with no content/cost people are starved for things to do right now, Morrowind helped a bit but it won't last long.

When the gear cap is raised above cp160 almost everyone is going to wish this feature was in game.

So im jumping on the wagon early and suggesting zos really consider the many advantages of this system.

    E.g.
-easier progression for brand new characters
-gives items below the level cap value (so people who just grind at dolmens/skyreach will miss out compared to players who explore the game)
-adds a feeling of investment to your gear ("I've had this same sword since level x").

Finally, this would be a good feature to bundle with a crafting overhaul, including other desirable features like a transmogrification system and a retraining option.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

I think this would be a very good way to manage the gear cap raise if it comes one day.

Im in favor as it would be fun to improve its gear from day 1

It would make low level drops worth something
