I need some serious answers here (PC/PS4 ESO Unlimited)

KevinBrits
Please be honest, i can also play the PC version but back in 2014 that *** was just as worse in Cyrodill as the PS4 is nowadays.

I'm just wondering about the low frames overall and if it's actually reduced or even being worked on by the team.
Also back when ESO launched on console for example. If you had huge fights, the console just couldn't keep up and causes input lag and FPS issues nor could you properly see AOE going on, is this still noticeable today? If so, is this less on PC?
Is there still lag/desync/framedrops?
Will / are battlegrounds less laggy?
Trails still laggy?

I'm very curious cause this game was a blast and very smooth while playing through from 1 to 50 but after that i was shocked..
I really am tempted to pick ESO up where i left off but these things ruined it for me back in the day and it almost seems like the developers couldn't fix any of it like they are out of resources or cannot code properly.

Thanks in advance guys !

The population in level 10-50 tends to be much lower than any of the other servers normally which means less lag
also, the amount of skills used in 10-50 are a lot lower which means a lot less calculations for the servers.

When you move to fully populated vet servers, you get ball groups (massive lag creators) and a lot more people stacked up in 1 area like at keep fights (another massive lag creator) The calculations that the server has to do is also increased in CP campaigns because of all of the extra passives and points invested in different trees by different people

Yes, it is being worked on by "the team" and it has been ongoing since launch basically but there are still many of the same problems you mentioned above still stand. Sure the lag isn't as bad as it used to be but you'll still get invisible AOEs and siege damage etc.

We've supposedly actually seen the zergs in Cyrodiil lagging the whole of the game on EU before as well but not that recently. I don't know how trials and battlegrounds are performing at the moment... you can't make an accurate judgement straight after a DLC release anyway because so many people are doing different separate things that they wouldn't normally do so it is going to take a short while to see how the servers are once everyone has leveled up their wardens and finished the Morrowind content etc.

So that basically means the engine can't handle all the effects/particles when all cluttered together, explains the lag i experienced both on PC and console. I wonder why they add such stuff as you just mentioned with the passive tree when it apparently doesn't work and only comes with down sides.
I hate the fact that the issue of invisible AOE/sieges is still there aswell, but if the lag isn't as bad anymore thats nice, thanks for your reply dude really clears some *** up for me.
Oh and just curious, are you on PC or PS4 ?

The reason they keep adding things despite the lag is because games are based on business models run by pinstripe suits desiring $$ for shareholders, not what people in the game want... more to the point, you'll find that the pvp community is a very small portion of the player base. This game has a player base that ZOS will want to make money from and PvP doesn't make them any money.. in fact, a lot of the problems have been around for years and i guess this is because it would cost too much time and/or money to rectify relative to the amount of people the fix would be targeting. They even resorted to removing the torchbugs and deer from cyrodiil to cut the lag(of course, it did nothing or next to nothing)

Once it gets to the point where you have to wait 2 seconds for skills to go off (if they do go off at all) and resource/keep guards are so "confused" that they just stand still and do nothing with loads of enemies around them, you'll know the real meaning of the word lag XD

You could download an addon for pc called Miat's CC tracker that basically tells you with a visual cue on screen when you're being hit by something like meteor or eye of the scrub etc (i don't think it works for siege though)

    I'm on PC/EU btw ;)

As long as you have a decent rig and connection, there usually aren't any problems.

There are periods of time during which the server hamsters go on vacation though, and the poo hits the fan when that happens.

compared to where we were a year or so ago, at least in cyrodiil the lag and FPS has gotten better overall, Ill give em that.

Still you roll into a keep siege on a sat night with 3 zergs in the area youre lagging babe.

Do yourself a favour and dont play on console if you have an option to play on PC. I have wasted 1 year playing on console to start over on pc recently. Issues listed below are present on PS4 (and im sure its the same on x1) and either minimal or not present at all on PC:

    - Low FPS
    - Disconnects in trials
    - Crashes to main menu
    - Huge input lag when in trials and PVP
    - Invisible NPC mechanics due to lag in trials and Malestrom (stage 7 poison flowers, im looking at you)
    - Crashes in Cyrodiil when approaching keeps with many people fighting
    - 3 big patches in a row (1T, Homestead and Morrowind) game becomes INCREDIBLY laggy approx 1 month before patch. All bugs listed above become much more evident, ZOS completely ignores community and never acknowledges any problems, after major update rolls out everything goes back to normal. (i mean all the issues are still there but not as bad as right before patch)

Lag issues are almost zero on ps4.

I can play full pop-locked servers with no problems.

Over a year ago rubberbanding at 2fps was normal across all platforms.

Feel free to log onto twitch and watch any number of pvp'ers play all day with almost no problems.

Any1 who still qq's about performance is going to complain about anything at this point.

    Cheers!

Since this thread is back in top again..

What is "ESO Unlimited"? I know of Tamriel Unlimited.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Maybe stay gone til July or August......lots of updates as in bug patches are supposedly in the works but so far on PC many have caused worse interactions for Morrowind at least

The long standing issues still exist that you mention and while PC offers more options, all platform have those experiences as it's more of the development rather than the machines it now seems.

(I have PC & Xbox One access, but quit both and await June 6th and will decide if I return)

This is a lie, lag is horrific on ps4 in cyro.
