Lose Your Guild?

hightowermusic
I started a guild last year and am the guild master of said guild. My question is... If I don't continue to log into ESO will I lose my guild master rank to another guild member? I ask because this has happened to me on another MMO I used to play. I was still a guild member but after 30 days of not logging in they gave guild master to another member and that member stole all of the money and items of any value.

No you have to physically promote someone to leader in order for you to lose it, or you have the leave the guild yourself, and the highest ranking member that has been in the guild the longest will then become the guild master. :)

If your going afk for a month or longer, for the sake of your members, it may be a good idea to promote someone you trust to look after the guild during your absence.

After all, the guild recall belongs to its members and the guild leader cannot lead from afk.

Members of a Guild, eg officers can message ZOS if you have been away for a while (I would argue more than 30 days) so that they can explain the situation (absent Guild Master etc) and be able to manage the guild and keep it alive. I would say if you plan to be away for more than 1 month or 2 to make sure you keep the guild alive somehow using officers, tell people you are going away or perhaps step down

You really shouldn't try to run a guild if you're going to be offline for 30 days at a time, it's selfish of you to try. It definitely will be a very unsuccessful guild when the GM can't be located for months at a time. Maybe you should focus more on just being a member because you can't lead when your offline for months...

If the other game was WoW, you solve that by having three empty ranks below guild master, because only the top three can dethrone.

Why would you want to be a GM if you're not playing anymore? (I guess you plan to show up occasionally or after a long while). As others have said, better to promote a trusted friend to GM if you're planning to be away for more than a few weeks. If my GM goes away for too long, I'd probably leave the guild after a short while; I would think other players may do the same and then you will have an empty guild when you return (or is that what you want, more bank space for you?)
