lock icon on items an disappearing items

So i bought an item and it had this lock symbol (i have never seen this so far; but googling tells me this is item locking?) I tried to put the item into my bank - it went out of my inventory but never made it to my bank...when looking at my bank its not in there.... and scrolling through my items there is another item in their with this lock symbol that didnt have the symbol before the morrowind update...? Can anyone shedd some light on this and where i get my lost item back?

Perhaps you are just missing the item when you go into your bank?

By default, items in your inventory are sorted by state (locked, temporarily tradable, unlocked, stolen) - so the item would show at the top. In your bank, it goes back to being reverse alphabetized. You can sort both manually by using the arrows by the field names at the top of the inventory/bank list.

Locking is a feature from an update or two ago that lets you prevent destroying and deconstructing items on accident. You can lock or unlock an item on PC by right clicking it and selecting the appropriate option; not sure was the console control is to bring up that context menu.

If the item really is gone, better to make a bug report.

i can't find it anywhere - bug report through the forum or in game better?

What i think is strange - i have never seen this item locking until after morrowind...and the one other item that shows up with that lock symbol didn't do so before Morrowind i'm sure... was it locked before but they just added the icon?

@OP, are you looking in the bank on the same character that placed it in the bank? I've had this happen before. I placed a locked item in the bank and went to retrieve it on a different character, but it was gone; i.e. Invisible.
When I got back on the original character to check his inventory and the bank it was visible to him in the bank.

would this be a bug or intended (wouldnt make a lot of sense to me)

but no it was the same character, i checked seconds after i put it in
