Stamina DK leveling - help me understand

Nowadays I try to spend some time understanding a class before jumping in.

I would love to play a Stamina DK but what puts me off is the lack of stamina morphs (they got like only two) so it implies I have to rely on the Magicka spells of the DK.

I am aware of the weapon skills which use stamina but I am not that big of fan of them as they are pretty bland and available across all classes without any uniqueness.

So what should I do ?

I am stamina DK that uses Magika DK skills quite a lot.
Self regen, shield, scales and area roots are to damn good to not use. Even if I have 12k magika, I use em.

Play, and you find out what suits you.

If you want a challenge, then play a Stam DK, if you want easy mode, play Magicka, Sorcerer above all.

Weapon skills, as you said, is what you can use for a Stam DK, plus some class skills that morph into stamina, plus some magicka skills that help with dps and/or survival.

Also, Stam DK is melee fight, so it may be a matter of likings too.

My main character is a Stam DK and I love it. I have completed mostly all content in the game (check my signature), so don't let anyone tell you that you can't play a Stam DK.

The point of stamina classes is that they use mostly weapon abilities with class's flavor. Class's flavor will help you shape your own playstyle.

General playstyle of stamina classes (for PvP)
Stamsorc: very fast, highly mobilized, high burst.
Stamnb: stealthy, slippery to catch, very high burst.
StamDK: Tanky af, with high burst.
Stamplar: a lot of healing with the ability to cleanse harmful effects, class-based stamina CC, high burst.

Disclaimer: this is just the general playstyle of the classes, you can adjust it further, like you can make a slow and tanky stamsorc or a squishy stamDK with very high burst.

If you don't like using weapon abilities, you shouldn't (and can't) play stamina classes.

well, if you make use of magicka potions, glyphs of reduced spell cost and constantly heavy attack then you probably could play magicka skills being a stamina character but why would you play this way? Magicka skills will do pitiful dmg if you are a stam character.

Edit: I play a stam Dk and I have 9k magicka. If I use 2 magicka abilities I'm already out of magicka.

Imho, I wouldn't say a Stam DK has high burst or very high burst as you mentioned above. It doesn't even have an execute skill. It can hit very hard though.

Wrecking blow > empowered take flight is enough burst to kill anything

That's a weapon exec, not a class exec. And that's not high burst. Come hit my Stam DK with the 2H exec. It'll be a caress to my shields and character.

Yes, it's an weapon ability, but that's the point. Every stam class can build towards high burst because they can utilize 2H, and that weapon skill line has insane burst potential. HA+ Dizzly Swing + Dawnbreaker/Take Flight + LA + Executioner/Reverse Slice, that's DK's burst.

As sDK, you need several weapon skills on each bar. If you use dual wield, you will need steel tornado and rabid strikes, possibly deadly cloak. That is like 3 slots used there. On bow bar you need endless hail and poisonous injection, for example, leaving you with 3 slots only. So, you will need to fill about 5 slots with non weapon stuff. Since rearming trap from fighter's guild skill line and vigor from AvA are almost mandatory, that leaves you with 3 slots only. Claw is one of them, corrosive is pretty much the other. How many slots remained? One. Feel free to use one magicka based utility skill, like green dragon blood, igneous shield, igneous weapon. It is good we have a way to utilise magicka pool or we would be in sNB position next patch, where you have zero need for magicka bar.

But.... people do combos to burst someone down.... They are called "burst combos". But anyway, back to the point, do you think Stamsorcs have high burst? Yes, they do, because of 2H skill line, they have 0 class-based damage dealing ability. Same goes for DK. Their burst comes from the 2H skill line.
