I need advice on what skills work well in VMA
Currently I have slotted
*****Bar 1*****
-Crystal Frags
-Magelight
-Hardened Ward
-Bound Arnor
-Force Pulse
-Eye of Flame
*****Bar 2*****
-Crystal Frags
-Lightning Splash
-Haunting Curse
-Bound Armor
-Wall of Elements
-Overload
*****Overload*****
-Boundless Storm
-Hardened Ward
-Dark Exchange
-Bound Armor
-Surge

Now I got this set up from my brother who says he beat VMA with this but I'm not really liking it as much. Wondering if anyone has input or a slightly different setup suggestion.
Or do I just nut up and say on this

Easy build for mag sorc is in my signature. I get 540k scores with it.

I have maelstrom weapons in the build but you can just sub them out for any random sharpened staff and do comparable damage.
Same with the IA jewelry... just swap those out for willpower jewelry

I run 2 grothgarr 5 necro 3 aether my bars are

Frontbar: frags, force pulse, endless fury, volatile familiar, inner light ulti: shooting star
Backbar: power surge, liquid lightning, elemental blockade, volatile familiar, hardened ward ulti: destro ilti

I use backbar lightning staff, frontbar inferno staff, and its key to have 75 into thurm.

I'd take frags off your back bar and replace it with power surge. It's important to keep surge up and having it on your overload bar just seems clunky and somewhat unreliable. Or if you wanted to change it up completely you could go with a pet build. I suck at mag sorc, but I cleared it with a pet/HA build without having all my skills leveled.

    What if im running the
    5 BSW all Divines
4 Moondancer (3 Jewelry, Sharpened Lightning staff front | Precise Flame Staff Back)
2 Grothdar (Head Heavy Divines | Shoulder Medium Infused)

I wouldn't run grothdar... if you do, at least remove the 2 pc in stage 7 so you don't kill the shield menders on accident.
Also, if you want to go the heavy attack route, BSW won't work well. Since most of the damage is lightning. Better off with julianos.

Ideal set is necropotence, but thats up to you... because its a huge time and/or monetary investment to get them all in decent traits.

Also, if you want to do the classic force pulse/frag build... then you're set up is fine.
but like someone else said, swap frag on your back bar with power surge.
