Old player here, trying ESO again, is this downtime normal?

Returning player from a couple years ago, got excited about playing today after loading up again yesterday, but now I'm not really sure. Is this downtime normal?

    Yes and no.
    It doesn't happen often, but it's a reoccuring phenomenon

    What down time? ESO closes the servers down on mondays because it's a dying game and cant afford the bandwith.

    It's a maintenance patch. A long one but just maintenance.

    It can be. Once in a while but when downtime like this does happen it usually goes until 3pm EDT
    but normally maintenance's go from like 3-4 am to 6-8 am

    It feels like this sort of issue only happens now when there is a major patch. That, and they don't do maintenance every week now, so I'd say no, this isn't "normal".

    No this is not normal, usually maintenance is finished by now. They said they encountered a problem which is making this one take longer.

    • EU players are humans too! We want our maintenances in the least pop time (at deep night) and not lasted for several hours!
    • Animation canceR - is true PvP cancer! When you can't see which actions your opponent do - you can't react properly on them!

    They had some issues this weekend - mostly on PC/NA I believe.

    This is atypical, but is needed from time to time. Don't let these fools tell you otherwise.
