Today I was a part of a 12-player group who played through the Hel Ra Citadel on normal difficulty.

Repeat, NORMAL difficulty.

All players were in BIS gear for the most part, so our troubles had to do with the damage enemy npcs were doing as well as their defenses. We had two spots where we had extreme difficulty. The first was after the area where there are two paths to follow before they rejoin. At the spot where the players re-join after splitting up, there is an intense battle against a large group of enemies who do intense amounts of damage. Several of us died repeatedly, including my magisorc wearing 5 pc. Necropotence and 4 pc Elegance with the Slimecraw monster set. For my combat style, I keep my pets out, use the imp's AoE and Lightning Splash, keeping Crit Surge up as well as Conjured Ward and support my pets with heavy basic attacks from a distance.

Even spamming CW every few seconds, I still went down and needed to be revived. Then at the final battle of the trial against The Warrior, we were all dying left and right. I was lucky enough to only die once and that was only because I kept spamming the Conjured Ward repeatedly when targeted by his AoE. Three other players died trying to revive me, but we finally managed to beat him. This was an insanely difficult trial and that was on NORMAL difficulty, not Veteran.

With the changes being made on the PTS, I see no way for such content to be even remotely playable. With all the trouble players are having keeping enough magicka or stamina to survive, then trials, even on normal difficulty, will become impossible. The proposed changes have me very worried for the future of the game as far as my being able to succeed in completing such content.

After re-reading this, I feel I should add my reasoning. In order to survive the normal difficulty trial, I had to spam Conjured Ward just to survive as much as I did. With the changes, I'll be running out of magicka a lot faster and once I'm out of magicka, no more shields, meaning I take lethal damage. This is the same issue other players will be having. No magicka/stamina, no way to heal or reduce damage, meaning groups will be wiping on battles repeatedly to the point that completing such battles will become impossible. The changes work in pvp, but for vet-level pve content, it will be a nightmare and players will give up on such content and maybe the game as a whole when they can no longer play such content. Beating The Warrior was stressful enough as-is, but the changes will mean surviving such battles will literally become impossible.

That's the fear most pve players like me have for the fate of the game and our being able to play it should this issue not be addressed successfully before the update goes live on all platforms.

Necro + Elegance + Slimecraw is far from BiS.

And Crit Surge in a Trial? Why? Did you not have healers and tanks? And why not Power Surge, the Magicka morph?

I don't see any mention of Elemental Blockade, either. And why are you using unmorphed Lightning Splash and Conjured Ward?

There's no damage on The Warrior that you need to shield through, even on vet. Stay out of the red and block the fireworks.

Oop to CriT Surge, you're right. I have POWER Surge morph instead. :P

I have one of the poorer sets among the group and lack BiS myself, but most of the group WERE in BiS gear. I've since upgraded Slimecraw to Ilambris (I needed shoulders). Also, I'm one of the lesser-skilled players and have slow reflexes compared to most seasoned players, but the more skilled and seasoned players were dying rather often, even more than I was. If we can't keep enough resources and spell-strength to keep our defenses up now, what chance will we stand in trials after the patch? THAT was the point of my thread.

you just need a warden in your party that will fix the balance issues with that content im sure, since the goal is to nerf everything else, driving people to buy morrowind for the warden class that makes up for all the nerfing everybody else will endup getting by the time it goes live....

and be prepared for "get good" type comments...since...you know...zos can do no wrong and any changes they make improve the game every single time...nerfing skills till they are useless and nobody uses them....more fun....nerfing skills/regens/etc to slow down combat and make content last longer...makes the game more fun. sure its more of a grind. but korean grinders are the gold standard for fun mmo types....KalOnline would be proud...

I think your group just needs to learn the mechanics and practice. All of your descriptions sound like you guys were dying to avoidable mechanics (pulling the gargoyles out of the group or negating their ground pound, blocking and not stacking on The Warrior's fireworks, interrupting flame shapers, etc.).

I bet if you all watched some videos of other groups running the Trial on YouTube and practiced for a few days you'd be blowing through it easily. Normal Trials are pretty easy in the grand scheme of things. Easier than many vet dungeons, I'd say. But the mechanics are more complex and you're more reliant on good tanks and healers.
