Yea, lightning is cool.
Inferno wall is powerful, but lightning has better ultimate and heavy attack imo.

Made a heavy attack sorc with the same setup. Dear gods, had an 11 second fight with the incineration beetles yesterday.

Yes I agree, the heavy attack feels good; especially on sorcerer(surprise). Have not tried the ultimate thing though! Slipped my mind, will try it out no doubt.

Lightning for DPS. With a charged trait, and shock damage enchant.

Off-balance now gives Minor Vulnerability which is an 8% damage boost and will have 100% uptime with the above staff+WoE, and the CP star (forget the name) gives 10% more damage as well to "off-balance" targets.

Putting those two things together will give you results that rival Sharpened Inferno but with the bonus of being AoE, and I believe Lightning Staff can take advantage of Thaumaturge CP star as well.

It depends, to be honest. For my MagPlar it's lightning. For everything else, it's fire.

Exactly the same.

However i keep flipping between dual flame and main lightning, flame back on my sorc. Just cant put my finger on which i prefer.

Lightning on the front for my magsorc. Splash damage is just to powerful to give up, and its nice that my weaves proc lightning ilambris and disintegrate (i have blockade of fire on the back bar to proc fire ilambris and bsw)

My magpie healer uses lightning on her destr bar. Mostly for its boost to AoE attacks since most of her attacks are AoE (Shards, Sweeps, Reflective Light). Prefer the splash damage to single target as well. Though she's a healer, when she has to fight, she can largely ignore adds because they will fall as collateral damage while focusing on the boss.

Magsorc is the same and even an easier choice since most of her attacks are AoE also and the sorc's bonuses to shock.

I think fire looks cooler though if that helps?

Technically my front bar is sword and board and my back bar is lightning, but yes, lightning.

A really underrated part of both lightning and resto staves is that they work extremely well in laggy PVP situations. All else fails, just hold heavy attack and your staff will find targets for you. With the new resource regeneration nerfs it will be more important than ever.

Pet Sorc here. 60% of my damage is AoE DoTs. So its the logical thing to do.

Lightning - because there's a constant connection to the bad guy by just holding the mouse button down, whereas with fire and ice you have to constantly push the mouse button. I feel that by having that constant connection, I do more damage than fire/ice.

Don't know if that's correct, but it makes sense to me lol.

However, I usually carry a fire and ice destro staff as backup in case I run into a lightning/electrical resistant enemy (which doesn't happen very often, if at all).

Also, you have to be careful going up against a boss and learn his behavior because most time you can't stand in one place and reach out and touch him for a long time without moving, so I strafe side-to-side.

As far as a resto staff, I use whatever does the most damage, just in case.

One thing I don't care for are the strange names, i.e., frost staff of lightning, lightning staff of fire, etc. I'd rather get the ones that are straight lightning because you don't have to recharge them.

I forgot, I also like it better for kiting in a straight line, or when there's not enough room to go backwards, I kite the enemy in a circle. So, again, that constant connection, to me, is much better.

Playing magsorc (several lol)
