Real AH Yet?

I preordered the IMPERIAL EDITION when ESO first came out and played for about a month but just could not get into it. The AH was a big disappointment to me and many others and it was something I just could not overlook. I was thinking about giving it another chance since it has been almost 4 year they have to have done something better than the horrible system they had to start with, right?

Agreed, they really do need to go with a public zone lister atleast like a marketer that pools all info from each zone into one area that would atleast be a half way mark between a real AH and still guild traders.

I personally like the system. Plenty of gold has been made through it. Only takes a small part of my play time considering I am a seller more than buyer.

My issue is I'm a casual seller.

I don't sell much, ever, in games, but I like the option to.

Trade guilds often have sales limits, x per week or kick because of size limits.

I don't like that kind of thing. Can't be easy to start another trade guild either since no one wants to join one that has no people in it.

Guild Trader Assistant - Goes to each trader and memorizes the listings so when you call upon him you can search and buy(he will make note of your order and place it for you at the correct trader) from all traders at once. Also will bring your goods to your trader to post for you.

    Who wouldn't buy it?

I'd settle for a "Buy Order / Sell Order" system like EvE. Anything would be beter than wasting your entire game session looking for an item...only to not find it.

Honestly, use TTC (Tamerial Trade Center). I use both TTC and MM. While MM watches sales for the guilds you are in, TTC watches all listings for those who are using it. Only downside is that you need to have a 3rd party client open while playing (I was sketchy at first). There are a good amount of people using it. Suggested prices are very accurate.

But that isn't why I'm suggesting it. TTC not only updates prices in the tool tips, but also lists the items for sale online and the last time it was seen, where it was seen (which trader/zone). I completed a Spinner set for half the cost compared to the items selling in Mournhold. Best part is, I didn't have to go to store to store comparing. Quick search, went to store, bought.

I haven't yet, but that's just because the thought of traveling across two dozen zones to visit 60+ traders, to scroll through a list of items (since there's no keyword search) in order to find who 1. even has Particular Item A, and 2. who has the best price; and then travel back to that vendor and hope it hasn't sold while I was checking everywhere else..... is so asinine and daunting that I never bother.

Pretty much the only thing I bother buying anymore is cheap armor for trait research (so, maybe 1 item every week or two for under 500g). Anything else isn't worth it.

The guild vendor system is great for the dedicated traders, the economic pvpers, the financial wizards. It's less good for the minor seller, and for the buyer (who can't easily find anything, let alone a the best price for it).

As a seller, I'd like to have access to the entire population of possible buyers, not just some guild members and the half dozen people who might wander past an NPC deep in a swamp and bother talking to him. As a buyer, I'd like to be able to actually find things.

(although I may actually have to give in and find a trade guild to join for a week when the anniversary is done. I finally have a number of items to sell with all these dupe Motifs. But once they're gone, I'll be back to a having maybe a couple items a week to sell & having no place in the guild system.)

...but even the current system would be vastly improved if they'd add just a few of the basic market search functions that should be standard in every game by this point. Things like keyword search, and sorting by price/unit.

Yeah the lack of search in the base game is an issue. It would be just as bad in an auction house format, because you would need to scroll through everything listed across your server. I heavily rely on the AwesomeGuildStore add on for PC. Feel bad for our consol brethren, and hope ZOS will implement something for the game to remedy the issue.

I don't mind the selling part. I like making gold as much as anyone else.

The problem is with the buying and hunting down elebenty Guild Traders to find the one thing you are looking for.

It can best be described as tedious.

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if there was a decent search function to go with it. But there isn't. It's just awful for buyers.

Tried using the TTC website to find something for sale once. Yokudan Bow Motif. The first four listings they had, ran to different zones, found the traders.... item was already gone. Waste of 10+ minutes, nothing to show for it.

    Meh.

edit: and if you need multiple addons and a third-party website to make your economy work? There's clearly something wrong with how it's set up.
(Q: Does Awesome Guild Store work for any guild vendor you walk up to, or just for guilds you belong to?)

Guild trading system is corrupted, only ones bennofiting from it is the guild leaders, grant you even the good guild leaders who do not steal the money have a hard time trying to buy a weekly trade spot being that most of the bids are millions of gold.

ZOS knows the system is corrupted, being in a trader guild is just a money sink, even if you can make some coins you have to give it back to the guild leaders as fees for bids. It's a no win situation.

ZoS needs to take a good hard long look at games like WOW and SWG who's mastered the perfect Auction Houses and bring an ESO version of it into the game and end this guild trader system.

Personally we quit all our Trader guilds, we are in 3 non fee Guilds who once in a while get a Trader and sell our items there, or just break them down in crafting.

We have found selling to NPC Venders make you more gold over time than one big sale in a trader guild. Plus you do not have to give it back in fees.

I say to you let's start a revolution, quit giving gold to trader guild leader's and when all Guilds are dead ZOS will be forced to consider making a real Auction House...
And spam every forum that we demand Auction House..... If you want change we will have to scream it in the face and ears of the developers until the get so sick and tired of it they will be forced to make an Auction Houses just to shut us all up!!!!

You go do that. Really sounds like a great idea for you and maybe silently promote it in the trade guilds you are in.

BTW, I am in a trade guild that does not require dues. Odd how I still make bank.

Interesting completely false or at least misleading claim made of the guild leaders stealing. No trade guild could last if the guild leader was stealing and certainly not side spread. OMG, no

The fact that people won't play because there is no AH shows how lazy the community has become. I have no issues selling or finding my items and I'm not even in a guild. Get off your butt and go look for the items. An AH would only help the gold sellers more then us.

Auction Houses make price fixing much easier, not that it doesn't happen already. On the other hand it makes finding items you want much easier.

Would you rather spend the time searching for an item or would you rather spend the time grinding gold to buy an item? Either way you're spending game time to accomplish the same thing.

Well yeah - the system works for you. Of course you like it. I just think that an artificially-limited economy that excludes a portion of the playerbase is a shame. Sure, having a smaller playground to compete in helps the people doing the competing, but..... /shrug

(And even if you kept the system of limited/chosen sellers, it still sucks from a buyer's perspective, having to deal with this patchwork of vendors instead of a real market.)

Enough with this debate, it's a dead horse issue. Need to learn to work with the system we have.

So I have some hypothetical situations that I'd like the market pros to educate me on.

    1. Guy wants to sell one item a week. He's not looking to be a Super Trader or get absolute max profit. Just thinks it's a waste to vendor something for 9g when it could sell for 500-1000g. How does he do it?

    2. Provisioner needs a bunch of one ingredient, let's say 200. He wants to get it for a good per-unit price. How does he do it?

    3. Player is looking for a Particular Rare Item (there's maybe half a dozen or a dozen out there total). Again, he'd like to get the one for the best price. How does he do it?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. :)

Not whenever I want to by something. I also don't go looking for obscure items that nobody wants.

When are people going to realize zos has no plans to change the current system, thankfully.

No matter, this horse has been beaten so many times, what's one more beating going to do.
