Thinking of coming back. Not sure what platform to Sub at. Xbox One or PC and why?

For reasons I have stopped playing ESO. Finally started working again, I can afford the monthly sub. (one of the reasons I had to stop the sub, not working) and having the itch to play again, I am curious what platform to sub on. When I played on PC I don't get the OH MY GOD graphics because I don't have a power house so the graphics are a bit better than when I play on Xbox One. I have never used mods on PC (Don't know how or where to look for them) so mods are not an issue.

A plus for PC for me is, when wife is home I can still play ESO on my laptop. A plus for Xbox One is playing on my 60" TV. Before I played on Xbox One because I couldn't play with Key Board and Mouse very well but now that the PC I can play with the Xbox One controller that is not an issue either.

So being away for a while and not sure of what the changes are, not sure if there is any differences between Xbox One and PC so I that is why I am asking here. Last time I played on Xbox One it was crashing to desktop every 10 seconds so it was another reason I gave up on it. Is it more stable now?

I would try playing both platforms but since I am not subbed I think I will be upset if I find new stuff and I can't take them because I don't have my bag (sorry forget what it's called for storage) and might just quit playing since I find it not fun not being able to collect things.

So what is your opinion and why what platform I should try out again.

I'd suggest PC if you have the option because the add ons are extremely convenient.

And you can easily connect your laptop to the TV with HDMI cable, this is what I do.

    PC solely for the addons.

You'll notice a lot of console players complaining on these forums about not having even the most basic of features.

-PC can be upgraded to run the game better.

-PC has addons. I know you say they aren't an issue but once you learn how easy they are to install and use, it'll be really hard to start playing without addons again. (Esoui.com, install the Minion desktop app, and google/youtube "must have eso addon's".) - Minion will find and install any addons for you.

-Easier to use these forums, or any source of information if your already on your PC

I don't know how to add ad ons sadly. Any recommendations I should try? Also how would I go about getting them and adding them?

    PC

You can have the Console Experience if you'd like by enabling the Controller UI / Input. You can also have the PC interface on M + KB.

    Also, Addons.

PC for graphics, gets more dev attention, addons, higher % of adult players, some opinions that keyboard/mouse offer better controls. I've heard the population is better on PC.

Go with console if you place no value in the options above or if you are under 25.

Do you want to play end-game content (Trials)?

Then choose PC, because Trials are broken on XB1, have been broken on and off for the better part of a year, and there's no fix on the horizon.

Choose PC unless you want to be limited to casual content.

You can play ESO on your TV with a PC; run an HDMI cable or grab something like a SteamLink. PC also has solid built-in gamepad support now.

This depends on where you are in the game. Hew's Bane or any major city is going to affect fps to the point crashing has a high risk. Regardless what others tell you, this happens on PC as well.

The game is unstable. Not the platform it's played on.

Right now, this very minute, ZoS is running a "Free to play" event on all platforms. This is a perfect opportunity for you to install on both platforms, and test out which you prefer.

The reality is no one is going to be able to assist you with what you like/dislike.
So what is your opinion and why what platform I should try out again.
I'm on the XB1 and I enjoy the simplicity of the controller interface. But I'm using the Elite controller, which allows me to configure everything on the controller, from trigger speeds, to mapping buttons to the underside handles (no macros, sadly, but it's MUCH easier to hit two paddles to call the Ult than it is to press LB+RB), and joystick sensitivity (which I find I cannot live without anymore in any game).

The downside to playing on the XB1 is our options are limited in terms of subscribing. We can only do a month at a time, so any "6 or 12 month" plans, which usually run a bit cheaper, aren't available.

The graphics on the XB1 aren't hugely stellar, but if you're more into the gameplay element, they're more than sufficient to please the eye. You won't get the finer details on armor that PC players get, but meh... how often do you look at your own armor anyway.

Anyway, those are just my viewpoints. I urge you to try both while the event is going on.

    Hope this helps!

Always PC, as long as it's good enough to take advantage of the higher graphics, obviously no point in running it on a 10 year old laptop.

Choose whatever platform you feel most comfortable spending hours at a time on.

Xbox is the platform of my choice and wouldn't choose any other. The game honestly runs pretty *** on all platforms, PC master race will tell you different but take it with a grain of salt.

    PC...

Addons would be most peoples number one reason, but for me it's a close second.

Gamepad customization would be my number one reason for using a PC even if you prefer the gamepad. With PC you can change the keybinds however you wish, instead of just having a few sets of configurations like the consoles have. Plus you can make use of the Xbone controller's chatpad for even more keybinds.

This isn't strictly ESO related, but if you happen to own an Xbone Elite controller you can also use a program called "reWASD" to remap the paddles or other buttons to keyboard keys so those 4 extra paddles can be unique instead of just being copied from other buttons. I imagine Microsoft will get their heads out of their ass at some point and fix their software to allow the ability to do the same, but even then console would be SOL because they have fixed sets of keybinds.

I would suggest PC, but I am biased and only play games on PC these days lol. But really it's handy to have a keyboard to talk to people with instead of whatever people use on PS4 and Xbox.

And of course the choice of having add-ons, it's really super easy to use them, all you gotta do is read a little. It's easier then even Skyrim mods, which is also pretty easy.

    Go PC.

I get dashboarded at least 4 or more times a night in Cyrodiil. Not to mention countless other issues from text chat breaking, voice chat desyncs, disconnects from trials, and the PowerPoint slide fps near populated keeps. If I could transfer my account, I would go to PC in a heart beat.

I own accounts on both platforms and I can give you a list of advantages on both (though most already listed here in this thread).

One thing I can tell you, I have been playing PC since launch and playing on XB1 in a breath of fresh air. I like the PvP a bit better due to the lack of crutches like Miat's PvP alerts and the lack of cheat engine users. However the random "Burrrrrrp burrrp burrrp bur bur bur bur" crashes on XB1 are annoying.

I should add that you can also get a streamer box for your glorious 60" and stream the game from your PC with a streaming program, or from Steam. Turn on controller in the options and have yourself the best non-console couch experience of your life.

I would go Xbox.....I wouldn't know because I'm on ps4, but I've seen lots of post recently about low populations on PC. Console on the other hand has a lot of other players to play with, and we don't have beards on our necks!!

Thank you so much for your opinions everyone. It is greatly appreciated. Someone said the games are free on both platforms. I already bought the games so I take it that we have the free "bags or storage" this weekend as well as the expansion packs?

I will try both then and see how it goes. I guess I did come at a good time to ask so I can see which way to go. Too bad we can't use the monthly fee for all platforms.

I have it on both XB1 and PC and there is no contest, PC all the way. XB1 performance is appalling, I am surprised Microsoft let them get away with it, it's a real let down and it's hardly cuttting edge graphically.

IMO there is no point subbing. I subbed since release until Jan this year, but you get so very little for it and there's been the bare minimum of content released for the game, only 1 DLC is 'must have', so you can buy that outright for cheaper than a 6 months sub. I consider my sub was a total waste of money and simply bought the DLC in sales for less than 1/10th what I paid in sub fees since release.

Had ZOS actually bothered to release any content, then the sub may have been worth it, but they've been pitiful on that front.

The game itself is in not too bad a shape right now, but still very broken in many areas. Just pick it up no sub and see how you get on for now is my advice.
