Children

Saw a thread on the topic of "children in ESO", and it made me want to write a thread in regard to the implementation of children with moral concern in mind. I adored children in Skyrim – they had memorable personalities and lines, often snarky, and they added a lot of immersion.

The concern?

That players can kill and/or harm children. A taboo subject, and one that I believe is silly – as I see no difference between killing a child and an adult. However, I will put my opinion aside for the suggestion.

The solution?

Some NPCs in the game are unkillable through the Justice System, but they still react to criminal acts and will give you a bounty. Some NPCs have a cowardly personality, and when they witness murder, they run away. If children were implemented, they could have these two traits – untouchable and runs away when they witness murder.

Other crimes?

If a child witnesses theft, lockpicking and pickpocketing, they would give you a bounty like every other NPC – and surely let out a rude remark.

    Children implementation…

Alright I will do it for the sake of Nirn!

    …now where is Alyenn? XD

(I would continue but I don't want to get banned by ZOS) :)

I'd rather have no kids than immortal snitches. Almost as bad as the chicken that told the guards I was stealing.
    @WalksonGraves

I enjoy the occational killing spree in Skyrim, but I still think immortal children in ESO would add comedic value.

I don't see the point. There would be a large cost in terms of development and performance for few and minor benefits. Plus having children in the world means they must be included in the sometimes tragic and very dark stories, even if players cannot harm them.

There has been tons of Children Topics, in fact its been asked so much, I believe its coming. I say if they add them they better add, homeless, lovers, couples, families, plagued, injured too. I think it would increase immersion a ton, like Cities are full of lovers, families, etc and country side is for plagued and injured etc.

Injured, plagued, homeless lovers or bust! What would their kids look like?

    Like you?

I think its only fair if they add Childrens, they add something "unfortunate individuals" too.

The main issue holding up children in ESO is Zendimax online is a German company and the Germans have been touchy about the possibility of depicting violence against children for about 70 or so years now. Seems 80some odd years ago they got this new leader who was going to "Make Germany Great Again" well he decided the best way to do that was to put Millions of children to death.

I'm so used to not seeing kids in the game that I don't even think about it now.
But when I first started playing, I would look around towns and think "where are all the children?" LOL.
Meh. I'm OK with not having kids in ESO, but it would add a touch more realism to the cities.

Primary concern: The children will undoubtedly either be A ) Obscenely annoying or B ) Not lively enough for the folks that would like them around

You might think to yourself, where is C) The children are implemented well in this regard...
I have no hopes for this being reality.

1000%, adult variety other than young<->moderately aged and able bodied adventurers with the odd civilian who has a 75% chance of being entirely uninteresting. If we can't have this, why have children

It was kind of jarring to have quests where npc's-relatively young looking ones at that- refer to their children. Then to find their children look about as old as they do. I would be okay if they added children. Jut try not to make them annoying like Braithe.

    Not gunna happen

This exactly and seems, based on threads concerning the subject, that not many people really care about having children in the game. idk, maybe it is just me.

You ever listen to children in Bethseda games? We don't make kid-killing mods because we're sickos. We make them because the smug little #$%&ers practically beg to be killed.
    @Vulture051

I like that the children are annoying, it adds comic relief as well as variety.

They should put em in but we should be able to kick them, like chickens in Fable.

You do realize IP series is 20+ year old? They should take this kind of requests seriously, but yeah, dont push too far.

Interesting to see how they play this to be honest. I think ES series should be like old wine.

The difference? Children haven't lived their lives and are still innocent to the cruelty of the world. Adults have lived much of their lives and have made the conscious decision to place their own life at risk. (Unless you just decide to murder someone making a grocery run, then you're just plain evil).

Point is, all life is precious at the start, Children deserve every chance at survival because they only get one life and that one life JUST started for them.

I wonder why there are cradles in the game if there are no children in Tamriel...

Are they maybe intended for pets, not kids?
