Downloading the game

Hey all,

I am a returning player who has the unfortunate conundrum of being stuck on an Army post with absolutely glorious download speeds. I started up the ol' client and I am currently downloading at 300kb/s (woo!) I called and the ISP told me specifically that they throttle the speeds at the hotel I am posted up in due to torrenting. Apparently the ESO patcher and torrents use the same protocol. I started the download a few days ago... had a very convenient Windows Update hit at 2AM that restarted the computer. I went to hit "play" and it gave me Error 12 as expected. Next I hit repair and it started the whole process over again essentially. Next day I wake up and my monitor won't turn on. FML. Restarted the computer, monitor on, hit play (I had been at 75% at this point give or take a few) and once again, Error 12. I hit repair again and now I am at 10% of the download.

Anyone know of a way to get this bad boy in gear? The download will take days at this rate and I don't really want to wait days. I have a VPN, but it doesn't seem to be bypassing the throttling. Some unfortunate luck is making me think that ZOS maybe doesn't want me back in Tamriel.

Also glad to be back, cheers.

Welcome back to the community. And welcome back to Tamriel One. Also thank you for your service. Now about the download issue, there are two pieces you stated that re out of the hands of Zenimax,
    1) the downgrading by your hotel of the software due to it possibly hogging connection speed for other hotel users. That is on the Hotel.
    2) Widows just did a major update and it's called Windows 10 Creator Update - hopefully that wasn't your update you had as people have been reporting numerous issues with it especially load screen being stuck. But sounds more like you have Windows 7 or 8.1. (If Creator Update, then its a different issue with MS rather than ZOS)
    3) I have never heard of ZOS downgrading someones download no matter who they are. Though depending on the location it might be the countries issue...some do block American Datacenter IPs or even European depending on where you are in the world.
3a) To backup the prefious statement, I have a 100Mbps download and have had to reinstall twice in one night without any affect upon the download speed. (Please don't be mad at the 100Mnps)
    4) Make sure you have disabled SLEEP Mode for WIndows. If you need to know where it is -> Go Control Panel -> Power -> THen choose Advanced or confiugre -> Then choose "When to put computer to sleep plugged in" Choose "Never".

Hope this helps. Also let me know what the outcome is...if you finally get into Tamriel. Look me up if you wish. @WraithGore
