Massive spam in zone chats

Personally I'm fine with talking in zone chats it can be helpful and useful either for finding people to party with or for finding out about different guilds but what I'm tired of is seeing items being linked into the zone chat when it happens you can't see anything anyone else says does the item spamming bother anyone else

Item spamming is what I see as direct sale, outside guild traders and other stuff that make you lose a percent of money from sale. If that bothers you in any way, I suggest putting ppl that sell stuff that way on ignore list, or on mute, via some of the addons that provide mute option. You will no longer see what they write in zone chat at all. Once you get over this type of chat spam, remove them from ignore/mute list, since they might really be cool ppl and it would be ok to play along them in PvE/PvP.

I've noticed that people are not only spamming with WTS/WTB, which is fine to some point, but talking BS unrelated to the game, especially in starter zones. Every time I go to Glenumbra or Auridon there's always some boring discussion about gays, white privilege, feminism, racism etc. that's filling the chat window. I'm under the impression that such people are just chatterboxes that do nothing else in the game. I end up blocking a bunch of them.

Just ignore it. It occurs in every MMO and I thing Zos can do to end it. Even if they added a trade channel players could turn off people would still post WTT WTS in zone.

I disabled the default Zone chat the day I installed ESO 3 years ago, and haven't regretted it since. I keep Zone English open and occasionally see a sensible question or comment there which is all I need.

I appreciate zone chat in PvP. Not so much in PvE.

I understand why it's done, but the people that post their guild adverts twice in a row are particularly irritating. Would love to see some kind of recruitment channel to do away with adverts entirely.

I wish there was a filter to turn off certain chats, especially certain guilds. I don't care about pop stuff from my guild when I am doing dungeons. Or the constant item spamming from trader guilds. Or the "political chatter" when walking through certain zones. I like text chat but wish there way a block certain console chats...

...maybe there is on console and I just don't know how.

For a while I just turned the main zone chat off and relied on the 'English' channel. On the EU server though, for some reason best known to themselves, the Russians have adopted that channel as their own., rendering it essentially useless unless you happen to understand their language. I just turn all zone chat channels off now.
