Idea - Gold Sink/Immersion/Merchants being more useful than just selling items to them and repairing

So, I've been running around exploring Tamriel, trying to get the Tamriel Explorer achievement on a character. And I've been using the Skyshards Addon to show me where all the delves are (since each delve has one, and I know I could easily download another addon that shows me all of the needed locations). And I've actually started to notice how off putting these White glowing icons are on the map. This lead me to the idea of a map overlay for each zone (if possible) such that the non-interactable icons are less obtrusive while still showing them on the map. This is possible via addons, and this portion is doable myself, so I'll probably end up teaching myself how to make an addon for this game as a result. However, there is a way to make this a more interesting experience, and add some depth into the world.

Ex:
You enter a new area, you go to a merchant, this merchant also sells maps of local interests. Once bought and used, these map place markings on you map for areas.
Dangerous areas (delves) could be circled, and crossed off when you complete them, Points of interests could be arrows, that gain a descriptive title after you stumble upon them.
