What is Wrong with the NA Server?

I play on both NA and European servers; I am located in America.
The NA server consistently red-bars every ten minutes or so with lag reaching 999+ms every so often. When I switch to the European server, none of this happens. This tells me it isn't my connection.
You all got hardware issues with the NA server, Zeni? Or is it just plain too crowded? I'm not finding these issues at all on European, no matter what time of day.
