Hey all
I got a Nooby question im cp 200 currently in
Burning spellweave set from vet dungeons...
Im wondering tho how do you get best in slot gear?
Like law of julianos for example?
Im not a crafter is there a way that it drops somewhere?
Or do i have to buy it from a player or craft it?

Julianos isn't best in slot. From all accounts, Burning Spellweave is.

However, to answer your question, crafted gear sets do not drop anywhere, so you either have to craft them yourself, or get someone else to do it for you.

Law of Julianos is a crafted set only unfortunately. You can get another player to make it for you though.

BiS is a funny thing. I mean, there are a number of people out there that lack a huge dose of self-awareness. They complain if you enter their group without BiS gear, then kick you after telling you to come back when you have the gear. Because they refuse to include you, you will never get that BiS gear on their terms. It's as if some people think it just magically appears on your toon. I can only assume these people were treated in the same manner at the beginning and think it's the logical thing to do.

Save yourself a lot of grief and hold on until you find a group that will see things logically.

Better yet, join a guild that incorporate progressive runs. Not everyone wants carried. Some people want to learn. I know, I know, who'd have thought that, huh?

There's a huge number of sets, some of which can be considered "BiS" depending on role, type of content, group buffs, individual rotation etc. Just check them here: http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets Crafted gear has the advantage you can get it in every slot with the trait you want, minus jewelry which cannot be crafted. It's not necessary to craft yourself, you can have other people craft it for you. Dropped gear has the disadvantage of having random traits, some of which are utterly useless. Divines on armor for PvE healer & DD and impenetrablefor PvP and sharpened on weapons are usually better, with a few exceptions. For example charged staves on back bar that induce status effects more reliably or sturdy and infused armor pieces for tanks. Your question should have included all those aspects in order to receive a meaningful answer.

Oh please, we know where the majority of the BiS gear is, we all know it's not crafted gear and some have said as much. Now we've got that out of the way, other than BSW, where does one obtain BiS gear? 12 man groups. That is answering that specific question. Now, getting into a 12 man group is he going to be able to just walk into one or will he be on the recieving end of a world of unnecessary grief?

Best in slot equipment changes from release to release - what today's best tomorrow is underwater (like Desert Rose Set for example).

Here is how I farm my gear:
First of all I use third party sites to look up for gear info. There are quite few good sites that has detailed description and drop location of all in-game gear.

Then I farm my gear at the location the gear drops - or I buy it from guild stores if it's Bind on Equip gear and reasonably priced.
If it's a crafted set then I craft it by myself or ask someone to craft it for a tip if I'm missing prerequisites.

From what I've been told, for non-trial gear, Burning Spellweave (the armor you already have) is BiS for magicka dps. Followed closely by Scathing Mage and then Twice-Born Star (crafted) and Julianos (crafted).

Ilambris or Grothdarr (Monster helm + shoulders) are also BiS.

As for weapons, the infamous sharpened Maelstrom Inferno Staff comes to mind.

    Kiss the chaos.

Either 5 Burning Spellwave (farmed in City of Ash 1/2 normal/vet) or 5 Law of Julianos (crafted) on the body
Arcane Willpower jewelry (pretty cheap ATM from guild stores, earned as possible reward for doing daily random dungeon)
Ilambris monster set head & shoulders - head from the last boss in veteran Crypt of Hearts 1, shoulder from Glirion's Chest from undaunted enclave in every alliance capital, unlocked with the keys from undaunted pledges.
Random flame and lightning staves on both bars - could also be part of a set.

You can also combine two 5 piece sets and get a single piece from a monster set that gives you magicka/magicka recovery/spell critical/spell damage. Head is much easier to farm since it's a guaranteed drop on veteran but the shoulder is random undaunted chest drop - Glirion's and Maj's chests have 12 possible sets. For example wear 5 Juliaons (4 body pieces, staves), 5 BSW (3 jewelry, 2 body peices) and 1 Ilambris (head). http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Monster+Helm+Sets

We might, but judging by the context of OP's post, he/she might not. You know that phrase about what "assume" makes out of you and me?

I have often seen training raids advertised on zone chat, and the guilds I'm in do them often enough as well. And usually raid leaders don't care as much what you're wearing as how much dps you can dish out. As long as you're able to hit that 20 - 25k dps mark, most raid leaders won't have an issue with you.

Yup, I agree. That's why i suggested he looks for a guild that incorporate progressive runs and that way, he won't be bashing his head against a brick wall. For every guild you and I have mentioned, there is a guild that expects you to hit the ground running. That act as if everyone doing those runs have had zero deaths ever. Face rolled all the content in-game, first time. I'm merely saving him a world of grief, especially so as his current cp level will be frowned upon by many rather than welcomed with open arms.

Now my next step is find a group for maw of lorkhaj :open_mouth:

That would be indeed BiS gear, but a few things spring to mind:
    - VMA is pretty difficult for a new player, and the drop rate for sharp weapons is very small
    - nMoL can be pretty challenging for a new player, and even in normal you still need to do 20K DPS to have a smooth run. It's easy to find PuG groups even in zone chat but that doesn't guarantee success. Additionally, there's an even bigger problem with RNG. There's only an ~1/200 chance you'll get a sharpened weapon that's actually useful for Moondancer set: sword, lightning or inferno staff. So on average that will drop every 200 runs of MoL. Same goes for BSW swords.

CoA & CoH dungeons and guild stores/mates are a much faster start, that will eventually allow you to farm the above content. Also getting playing experience may allow you to push for higher DPS. Even if, by chance, the "BiS" gear mentioned there will drop in only 50 runs or so of VMA & nMoL, which is unlikely, you will need extremely tight rotations to get the full advantage from using them and the difference from the more common setup like Julianos/Willpower/BSW/Ilambris will only be within a few %.

For Maw of Lorkhaj just join pug runs and do it in normal mode, it's pugged 24/7 in zonechat lol ....then when you have the gear and your dps is optimal, join a raid guild veteran runs.
    • Normal trials drop blue quality jewelry, but that will not make any big difference to your DPS output.
    • Weapons make a huge difference to upgrade to gold - get your sharpened trait swords and staves to gold first.

(Level up crafting: it pays off to only spend 8 legendary upgrades to make something from purple to gold, instead of 12.
Alchemy has a passive skill that helps with your dps, since it will prolong the duration of potions. For veteran trials as a magicka DD you have to use Spell Power Potions, because casting skills like Power Surge will be considerate a DPS loss compared to popping a potion.)

Only when I've healed or tanked have I been asked about my gear and that was to coordinate the best group support

As a dps I've never been asked about my gear and Julianos would have been acceptable, even in vMoL.

I do wear BSW and MD, however, bsw is moderately better than Julian's.

@DivyathFyr for trials and dungeons adding infallible aether or moondancer is best. If just messing around overworld the. Get someone to craft you some julianos since a big reason for the two sets I mentioned is minor slayer which only works on dungeon bosses.
