Melee Combat Staves

I would love to see a melee staff added to the two handed weapons line. I've wanted to be able to create a staff fighter (not magic staves like we have, I mean smack the troll with a long stick). Any chance of this ever happening?

Already in the game, It's called Two Handed weapons. It also has a dedicated skill line.

OP wants a combat staff. Yes there is a 2h skill line but that does not include staves.

Jokes aside, no, that would be useless, you can always go to melee range with your staves and just force pulse away.

You can use every single weapon at a melee range. Having melee staves and/or stamina variants of those are unnecessary and a waste of dev time. You already have 2h weapons, why re-inventing the wheel ? If you really want to have melee staves, make an addon that alters the "skin" of a 2h weapon and you're gtg.

So you're just asking for artwork only.....there are motif that resemble more of a large weapon for two hand swords that don't look like a sword. It's prob worth having one crafted if that's the desire.

That would work, yeah, it's more of a desire for the visual of a fighting staff. I would not object to specific animation, but I know that would be a royal pain in the rump. If anyone knows what motif might might resemble a staff, I'd be interested to know what it is.

I don't really expect combat staves to be added, as a matter of fact, I submitted a note during beta to the effect that having one would be nice, so, yeah, no real expectations , just wishful thinking.

They just need to add a staff motif for 2h weapons, with visual differences for the different weapon types.

(A blade at the end, spikes etc)

I like the OP's thought. I'd make a 2hander fighter for sure if you could get more of a staff look.

It's been a successful melee weapon for 3 years now.

Most likely not, more needed though is a melee oriented magic DW weapon line. Many have sugfested bound weapons and i agree with them whole heartedly. I dont like running resto offbar in PvP for mag return, id like to run DW and get mag return and LA canceling.

Right now light attacking with DW is for weapon proc and not LA damage

Well, pffft. Thanks for the info. I'll prolly still take a look at it to see how it looks just out of curiosity. But yeah, the whole point I was making in the original post was a non-magickal (or at least non-bazooka ) staff.

Something about that doesn't seem legit. It looks to me like one greatsword got glitched into a staff skin. That sort of thing happened to me once, swapping to dual wield but it kept the appearance of a staff in one hand. It made flurry look quite odd.

It's pretty simple. Staves are 2H weapons. Look at their tooltip. Upper left corner iirc. Range starts at about 0 meters so works well in melee. Just ask any fire mage DK.
