The difference is WoW expansions raise the level cap, and we have no character progression like that here.

Stop trolling guys OP is correct. You should get atleast 500cp and a starter pack of all the VMA weapons. That would be more than fair.

So if I purchased Morrowind like, five times, I'd be able to get 5 x 500 free Champ points = 2500 Champ points! #setforlife

I'd actually like getting up to the current CP cap if i buy a certain version of the DLC. I want to play across both EU and NA servers but it's such a insane grind to reach the CP cap on the second server and starting over.

Funny thing is that no crown purchases carry over between servers but crown currecy spendings carry over on both. Atleast carry me CP over please! :D

Every time the CP cap is increased, the amount of XP required to get them goes down. Besides, if everyone was given a load of CP straight away, there'd be even less level progression than there is now.

For example. When you purchase the latest expansion in WoW, they add a free boost so that you can experience the new content. Why isn't it being done here? We should get our champion points boosted to 500 or 550 when we purchase Morrowind. What do you all say? Because the way it is now, a player can be away from the game for 2 years and when he comes back, he is sooo far behind and has to do boring grinding by killing mobs over and over. It is stupid.

WoW content is probably designed for players of a certain level above the max level before the expansion was released. The XP would be to bring them more in line with the new level.

SWTOR does this in a better manner. They do not have the same need to give XP away as such. The starting level of the new content is where the old max level.

ESO has no need for any of it due to the scaling that came with 1T. So no need at all.

I am glad Zos does not do things like WoW.

I am impressed at the lack of posts here adding that free houses, mounts, and costumes should be provided for the inconveinance as well.

uh. if you preorder, you get free mount and costume. if you preorder collectors - you get multiple free mounts and costumes. and pets.

gold edition of base game comes with a mount included.

free mounts and costumes are already a thing.

that said. I still think that first WARDEN (and only warden) created should come with a mount training included. ONLY first warden.

As other people have said since One Tamriel there's no need for this.

WoW gives new players the boost so they don't have to spend dozens of hours grinding levels in virtually empty maps before they can join in with the new content. In ESO you can jump straight into whatever you want to do without needing to level up. (It is much easier when you're actually a high level instead of boosted, but you can do it.)

Not talking about getting boosted to lvl 50. Just champion points. We should get champion points. Its no fun getting one shotted in pvp by a 600 cp [snip]

    [Edit to remove insult]

you do realize that CP disabled maps exist, right?

Yup but the best players play where its enabled. And the map is more populated as well.

So go level up if you want to play in cp campaign. You have the option to play where cp doesn't matter and choose not to. And all those "best players" played the game for their cp, and you should to if you want to compete with them. You shouldn't be able to bypass what others have put time in for.

There is no logical reason to need to do so other than you like 1 campaign more than the other.

Morrowind will be doable at level 1, just like Hew's Bane, Craglorn and Gold Coast, no need for free CPs.

Mentioning WOW is simply irrelevant given that Blizzard haven't retrofitted level-sync to all previous 11-years-worth of content, the 100 boost is still valid to let a brand new character access level-synced content.

The catchup system works really well. There is no need to grind anymore in ESO unless you are extremely desperate to get to CP 600.

If you make a new character, you get to level 50 within a week or two just playing the game normally without grinding. And then the first champion points cost almost nothing, especially if you have enlightenment. They go pretty fast until you get to around CP 300 or so - gradually each CP costs more and more until you reach CP600 when it costs 400k unenlightened (100k enlightened).

Then after you have passed the cap it goes much slower. Not sure the exact current numbers but previously each CP beyond the cap cost about 1.5x more as described below
    Hey everyone,
Thanks for all the feedback so far. We love reading your enthusiasm on this new system. Our goal is to make it as polished and awesome as possible before releasing to the live servers. The three main changes we’re looking to make are:
    • Reducing the speed at which XP per point accelerates. Our data shows there is a good number of people in the 300 champion point range and we didn’t want them to feel like they had to grind all the way to 501 before the system releases. This now means players are gaining champion points faster than the old value up until their 445th point.
    • Slightly increasing base XP. This helps normalize the curve a bit so players are spending a little more time in the beginning of the curve and less time at the end of the curve.
    • Reducing the XP penalty for players past cap. We want dedicated players to still be able to make meaningful progress.

The formula would be adjusted in the following way to meet these goals:
    • ((TotalPoints / (Cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000, where Total Points is how many CP points you’ve earned.
    • If you exceed the cap, the XP required is calculated given the above formula and then multiplied by 1.5.
    • For the first Champion Point (going from 0 Champion Points to 1 Champion Point) 34000 XP is required.

    Some thoughts:
    1. A player who is away for 2 years will not be at a disadvantage with Morrowind. It is designed so that a level 1 player can begin in Morrowind without ever stepping foot in another zone and still get the full experience. The only real exception to this, if ESO's track record is any indication, is veteran trials, which is not meant for new players. It's not even meant for a lot of "endgame" players, to be frank. It's supposed to be tough.
    2. There is already a catch-up system in place. It allows for new and returning players to earn CP faster than those who already have a bunch of CP. You earn it faster so you can catch up to those who have been playing for longer.
    3. Awarding CP with purchase is dangerously close to Pay-to-Win. The line is drawn when purchasing Morrowind is required for everyone; everyone has to pay, so nobody gets an unfair advantage, and everyone gets the CP as you suggest. One big problem: what about all those people who are at the CP cap? They're paying for something they'll most likely never get to use, and those who paid the same price are getting more for their money. Since it's required, it's a forced imbalance, but with real money.
    4. There are dozens of ways to earn experience that don't involve running circles around the same instance for a week straight. These options are available to everyone already.
