Tips for pugs who frequently get kicked for weak dps

Well that depends. Lately I've been trying a new tanking setup on my Stamblade using selenes, dreugh king slayer, and black rose. 2500 weapon damage and still all the necessary stats to efficiently tank. I have one bar set up for taunting and tanking skills, and the other for damage with surprise attack, heroic slash, killers blade, and grim focus.

Granted, it's not nearly as much output as an actual damage dealer, but it let's me contribute as a tank

I can understand number 1 that makes perfect sense.

For the others though why would that be a problem.

With number 2, What would prevent someone from being effective in combat if they use heavy armor as a DPS character?

For number 3, What about a 2 handed weapon prevents you from being effective in a Vet dungeon?

For number 4 If I were to be really honest with this one, I have not tried a veteran level dungeon yet. I have a character that qualifies level wise for a veteran level dungeon, I just feel I should master the normal level dungeons first. I would like to hear your reasons for why but if that is all they are doing I must say it seems like a rather weak play style.

For number 5 Why? That makes no sense whatsoever? The only thing I can possibly figure out for why is that you seem to have some kind of personal bias against Werewolves.

You claim to be a nice guy but if you are going to kick someone from a dungeon just because you don't like something that (for the most part) seems superficial about the way they built and play their character, then that is not nice by any definition. That is bordering on hateful and intolerant. Again I hope I am wrong but if you are willing to instantly kick someone from a group simply because you don't like their armor how can that be taken any other way?

How is he a bully? Sure he seems to be a bit arrogant, but if that bothers you, then you don't have to read it, not that I agree with everything he says.

1. Ok

2. Heavy armor is a severe gimp to your DPS character. You lose out on lots of DPS that you get from crit and penetration from light and medium armor, among other things. Heavy offers nothing relevant, and it is nearly useless for a DPS.

3. Two-handed isn't the current meta. People can still be effective with it, but, as it isn't the flavor of the month, many elitists will make sure you know that you are a terrible human being for using it. I see no problem with it personally as long as we are able to complete the dungeon.

4. No offense, but I could already tell that you are inexperienced with vet dungeons by your previous points. My advice? Wait until you are at least cp160. Anyways, spamming light attacks is pretty much the worst thing you can do. Light attacks alone do next to no damage and are only good for weaving. You only achieve a good DPS with layers of DOTs, weaving (there are exceptions), and a strong spammable between applying DOTs.

5. Werewolves are lackluster in PvE. Typically, you are stronger outside of Werewolf form. It isn't a bias, it is fact, and while there are exceptions (like PvP), this is almost always the case.

These decisions aren't superficial. They are what decide whether or not you can complete a dungeon.

Also, intolerant? Lol, to what? Fictional wolf monsters? People are far too sensitive these days...

Not that I am agreeing with the OP, let alone like his attitude, but there is a difference between doing something solo and being a dedicated dps build.
Heavy armor is great, when you're getting hit. Most of it's passives are designed for getting hit. If you're not getting hit (or at least not supposed to be) then you're better of with light or medium.

Don't forget that the OP also had no idea that named set drops only came in a single trait.

I actually have about 260 Champion points. This is the first MMO I have ever played and so I have a bit of a learning curve to make up for before I will feel comfortable with everything. Maybe I am over analyzing things.

As far as why I said what I did about @Ihatenightblades it is one thing to say this is why you are getting booted and then throw a list of things in all caps without any reasoning behind it. It is another to have a reason behind it. If the reason is simply I don't like this then that would be the definition of being a bully. But if there are actual reasons behind it then while harsh that is a completely different story, that in some situations can be understood.

And before I will feel comfortable with taking on a veteran dungeon I will likely want to be able to run a few normal level dungeons solo.
And thank you for the reasons. I can actually see that. I don't know what I think of the Meta reasoning but that is a whole different story.

The best DPS in the world weave light attacks between poison injection, rapid strikes or whatever their spamable attack might be.

A good dps knows his dot timers and will go through a rotation of attacks that might not be visible to allies due to animation canceling.

Werewolves in Vet Dungeons are not helpful. They cannot revive or synergize ultimates etc. Fearing mobs does not help aggro and is not efficient. They can do great burst damage on a single target, but wolves have to spend time with their face on the ground feeding or that dps is over. When you calculate damage per second (dps) wolves have too much down time feeding to keep a rotation going against a 3 million hp boss. Werewolves are great for pvp applications but do not fit in the dungeon group role.

Two-Handed weapons are great for Single Target DPS. Skilled players can make this work, but suffer in fights where you are in mobs or if a boss is out of reach. Primarily two handed weapons are for buffing up with rally and pvp applications.

Heavy armor is not the best for maxing out dps, but some wear 5, 1, 1, for survival. I say a squishy DPS causes the healer to work harder than he needs to work. You can't do damage while dead. That is why many stamina dps from PVP run 5 heavy. 20k health in a vet dungeon says they don't have as much offense as the guy with 18k if all other things were equal. However, many one shot mechanics are hitting for about 18k. It is a deadly balance that comes down to many factors. Either way, you won't know what armor I am wearing and if I am doing my job you will never stress about it.

You forgot Vampires, do you kick them also? If fully fed they are just like you and I, but starved and they melt in the fire regardless of being a dunmer or champ points. Do not go into vet City of Ash without a full feeding you bloodsuckers. ; )

Me personally, I realize the group finder is broken and I am lucky to get any group. When someone is having trouble I help them if they will accept the help. I have over 1000 cp so I know how to help. I have played every role so it is time to help the new players.

MAKE SURE YOU TRY HELPING YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS BEFORE YOU KICK THEM! These are real people, not Ai and kicking people might give someone a power trip, but how are you helping anything by kicking them? They will justfind a new group and keep making the same errors we all made when we started. Be the guy who helps, not the guy who kicks.

Lol. I only ever kick people if they're rude to the extreme.

That low cp guy with no dps that's always dead? I'll revive him, every single time. That guy with bow light attacks on melee range? I'll give him tips on what he should use as a melee.

Kicking people without giving them a chance to improve, specially while pugging, is beyond weak. Both as player and as person.

It depends on how it's made, I prefer French toast but will stick to waffles if I'm not sure about the other options. Pancakes are a fine art and I trust very few to do them well.

That's exactly his point. You can do 20-25k with a 2H. So if you want to minimize the chances of getting kicked - don't use it.

You know, you only see one side of this. I usually don't kick people and don't mind explaining mechanics and such. But you know how it ends? This tank in vet ICP wouldn't taunt the boss or would turn him so he faces the group, ignoring explanations in chat. I would explain again and ask if he understood, he'd say yes, and well my plan was to not give up on him unless he admits to trolling or something. Then the first vote to kick comes, I press no, the tank is not kicked. The healer (Who did his job properly) says "him or me". What am I supposed to do? Yeah I don't want to be a bad guy, but I also want to complete the dungeon. Lost 2 healers over that tank, finally kicked him. Got another one who was just as bad if not worse, another healer (who was ok left).. In the end there you have it, 3 people doing their job that can't progress beyond the first boss for the time that's enough to clear the whole place.

People might not be hardcore into min/maxing but still want to clear the dungeon and not have friends online that night. Or they can be in hardcore guilds. And guess what? Most people in hardcore guilds don't run pledges anymore. Good luck finding a group for them there. It's possible, but rarely and not consistently. Raiding guilds are more about raiding.

So in the end, you're telling me (an abstract me) to not punish a PUG and punish myself instead. Why would I do that? Why do you think anyone should do that?

And once again, I'm okay most of the times if I have to deal 60-80% of group's DPS and all that. But sometimes a person is a difference between clearing and not clearing, really easy and really hard. And every time you don't kick a pug or low cp - you are risking losing better players, which results in waiting for a replacement etc. So makes it longer than even bad DPS.

He killed two birds with one stone. The tips are relevant too.

2H doesn't necessarily mean you have low DPS, but in my experience in 100% cases it does. Moreover, it correlates with other things. It shows immediately that a person doesn't know PvE mechanics and you can bet that he won't know the fights and won't know how to pve in general. Even if you explain what to do, he will fail to do some of it, because most likely it will be the first time him even trying to do what we did since level 1.
