Vampire's bane and points into Enduring Rays

In order to maximize damage: What is the ideal amount of skillpoints to put into enduring rays considering me casting vampires bane every 8 to 9 sec?

I'm pretty sure it is not 2. Is it 0 or 1?

If you never use the full length of vampires bane, then why did you choose it?

Reflective light har more damage on a shorter duration and hits up to three targets.

If you are using the full duration then put all points into it, if you do not, then tailor it for the duration you need. On my templar I find that no points synergizes best with my rotation.

Because vampire bane has higher single target damage per cast than reflective light and by using Vampires Bane you can fit 3 Jabs into a rotation before reapplying Vampires bane. In a 90 second fight you need to press vamp bane 10 times, while if you use reflective light you would need to cast it 15 times. So you lose 5 global cooldowns during which you vould be casting other skills. But if you would like to fluff, by all means go for Reflective light.

Yes, but why is a passive a dps loss? it doesn't make any *** sense. This passive should just increase damage, instead of the duration.

Well, You could say it like that, but reflective light gives more dot than vampires bane, so as long you know your rotation your dps would be higher with reflective light even though you need to cast it 5 more times.

The passive increase duration of the skill and the damage, except its not a % increase. Imagine, if zero points in enduring rays means 12 damage over 9 seconds, then 2 points in induring rays would give you 14 damage iver 11.6 seconds. Is it more damage? Yes but less damage per second. And since certain rotations refresh ot every 9 seconds, it makes sense.

Reflective light doesnt give more DoT damage than Vampires Bane, I think what you meant to say is it gives more DPS, as in the damage done in those 6.5 seconds of Reflective light is more than the damage done in 6.5 seconds with Vampires Bane. The flaw in your reasoning comes in the form of stating that using reflective light on cooldown would be better even though your are losing 5 GCD. Thats incorrect. By using Vamp Bane I can cast Shards, Vamp bane, Blockade and PL and fit 3 Sweeps into the rotation before I have to reapply DoTs. I eould not be able to do that with Reflective Light in my rotation.

If you are using Vamp bane 0 points in this passive is needed. The tooltip damage/s goes up but its not actually working and you should refresh it every 8 sec anyways.

Yes. Was talking about dps not dot.

Well, maybe you are right, but still sticking to reflective light as the winner of those :p:D
