Focus more on guild functionality, and social aspects in general.

Less time spent on cramming as much RNG as possible into the game..

Actually it was a fail troll.

I'd rather see ZoS spend the time to properly fix the one they have out now.

Otherwise, they'd just copy/paste/reskin the new one, with the same problems.

Not sure what advice I would give if any but I can certainly say that if ZOS brought out another MMO I would buy straight away! Sure, I've posted by gripes about a few issues in ESO from time to time but overall, ESO is unquestionably the best game I have ever played. The graphics, content, gameplay... everything. The team have done an amazing job so if I ever saw them bring out another product, I would pick it up straight away.

My advice, plan rng ahead. Rng is fine, it's cool, but there MUST be a light at the end of the tunnel. This 'house always wins' bit, generates alot of animocity.

Balance pvp/pve seperately, plan ahead for this.

Focus on gameplay issues. Housing is cool, morrowind will kick ass I'm sure. But *** gameplay kills the spirit faster than you think. The casual crowd you market toward could be loyal subscribers if your antifeatures didnt chase them off.

Don't go buy-to-play. This probably hurt you the most, as it affected everything thereafter in your marketing. Your reputation is important. The old addage goes: If you make 1 customer happy, they tell 5 people. If you *** a customer off, they'll tell 20 people about it. Game popularity is word of mouth. People believe almost everything they see/hear. A few pissed pff people could deter hundreds of sales, perhaps thousands if they're popular.

Imagine if many popular youtubers spread false rumors about zos 'cuz they were mad.

    Um,

    1. They make more money out of console players than PC players.
    2. It's easier to sell and market games on console than it is on PC.

Hire and keep experienced mmo game dev's do not hire scrubs like lamebert/wobble team.

And invest in good hardware, keep cheating out of the game or be more proactive to stop it when it is found, don't be afraid to really perma ban chuckleheads for cheating or abuse.

Make a game with a lot of content and make real expansions filled in with some dlc's, keep the game fresh as possible.

But I think the point is moot as I believe the traditional mmo are on it's way out, as times and players have changed. Free to play and buy to play has ruined the industry with mediocre games light on content, and features.

I miss the older mmo's that were deep in content and features.

None, I'm not in any position to offer advice as I know nothing about programming a video game or an MMO for that matter.

I would be willing to bet they have learned a lot as team and already know what they would do differently if they do another MMO.

only thing I could offer is ideas, but slowly but surely they seem to be adding everything id like to see in a Scrolls MMO, very excited for the future of this game.

Look to Star Wars: Galaxies for how they did housing and trade. Make an open world vast enough to support that system and the player-created towns it had. For all it's many, many flaws, I've still never seen anyone even come close to matching SWG in that department.

Communicate, communicate, communicate. Devs should be members of the community, people we're used to seeing comment on posts. We shouldn't find ourselves clicking on every post that's been moderated for the hope it's an actual word from ZOS. They should be active parts of the community, openly and honestly part of discussions.

GMs in game all the time. All the time. Give them the authority to do impromptu events if they get bored. But tickets and reports need a fast response. Games like this need to be moderated live.

I promise, the customer retention from these last two suggestions would pay for themselves.

My point was that while more gamers use consoles, comparatively few console gamers play MMORPGs. Therefore while it would make no sense for a developer of some other types of games to miss out on the console market, that doesn't apply to MMORPGs the majority of whose developers don't bother with console versions.

I see your 2012 date and raise you 2015 data:

    http://venturebeat.com/2015/04/14/155-million-americans-play-video-games-and-4-out-of-5-households-own-a-gaming-device/

From which: "The PC is the most popular gaming device in America, says the study, with 62 percent of the most frequent gamers using it to play. Dedicated consoles follow at 56 percent, and then smartphones at 35 percent. Dedicated handheld systems like the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS are the least popular, at 21 percent."

Quick use of google also shows 84% of US Households have a PC - 73% of which also have a broadband connection, but only 51% have a Console.

So what the console market actually shows is a smaller number (than PC) of total players drifting between a higher number of games (your data is "games played").

A successful long-term investment in a game (from a development point of view) requires players that stick around, not players who flit between games just because the weather changed.

Zos said that ESO user base is shared pretty equal between the three platforms, no console version give just 1/3 of the customer base, far fewer MMO on consoles give less competition is an major one.
PC player myself and have never owned an console.
For TES 6, have ZoS make the pc GUI, Bethesda has no idea how to do it.

The console / pc sold games is ancient and obvious wrong. Steam and other online sales are not listed.

Fewer console gamers play MMO as its few MMO for them. you have the Final Fantasy for PC and PlayStation who is huge.
Know no others of any size PS3 and 360 had very little memory making it hard to make an MMO for them, best option was lobby games like destiny.
