The Inconsistency of Homestead: Nord Edition

Adaption

Old Mistveil Manor uses the same building as Grymharth's Woe, but adds an exterior yard and a stable. Compared to other large racial houses, it's rather small despite being the around the same price. I was hoping they'd use the building from Fallowstone Hall in Riften, or the Fighter's Guild Hall in Windhelm.

Zenimax pls. I'd even pay 10,000 Crowns for a 'Notable' house as long as it's in Eastmarch and using the Fallowstone Hall asset.

Absolutely. I opted for the Medium orc home over this one.

It's got just as much usable space with a crapton more character.

Honestly Fallowstone Hall looks more like it should be in the 3 million gold category, which would be nice to have more variety in that category. Since the first 3 are tied to completing the faction tied to it. Maybe add Fallowstone and another that are tied to Cadwell Silver and Gold?

Mathiisen is still larger than Fallowstone.

Agreed.

I ended up buying Hundings because it was so much bigger and had the bonus of water, which is pretty important to me personally.

If the option for Mistveil had looked like that and had more outdoor space to work with, I probably would have bought it instead. Even without any water.

ZOS was really inconsistent with how they handled the sizes and pricing of a majority of the houses.

That's my biggest problem with Homestead. There are houses that happen to be bigger than other racial houses and are sometimes even cheaper.

Come to think of it; Mournoth Keep is around 5,000c furnished and it's still larger than the 7,300c Old Mistveil Manor.

I am even more dissapointed with the craftable Nord furniture.
The developers really seemed to lack creativity when they came up with Nord furnishings in this game.
They are all so simple it hurts and have visibly lower resolution textures than many other race furnishings.
It seems like Nords took a giant pass on this Homestead patch.
So not only does our race suck now, our cultural furnishing and homes do aswell.

The only large homes worth their price are:

- Foresaken Fortress
- Mathiisen Manor
- Hunding's Palatial Hall
- Strident Springs Demesne
- Gardner House

The rest are just rehashed medium homes with a jacked up price tag.

- Nord house is a carbon copy of the medium home with a yard
- Dark elf large house is exactly the same as the medium version except with a yard and slightly longer side rooms
- The bosmer and argonian huts are just the medium homes with an additional tiny hut and more yard space
- The khajiit large house should have been their medium house considering how small it is, and the fact that they reused the small house in the medium category

It irks me that ZOS couldn't be bothered to use existing assets to make some of the lesser 'large' homes bigger.

You forgot Gardner House, it has the best interior layout of all the homes in the game. Also, location, location, location. I don't have the crafting stations so Wayrest literally being my doorstep is a huge perk. No wayshrine loading screens for me.

I totally agree with this. These options are fairly minimal too. I was looking through furnishings and there are sooo many Redguard and Dunmer furnishing options.

I wholeheartedly 100% agree with the OP though. I was disappointed when I first saw the Nord houses. What I was looking for was a nice medium sized house for my Nord that wasn't right in the middle of the city and was surrounded by snow, but I understand that they can't cater to everyone the first go around.

The large Nord home would be perfect for me had it been outside of Windhelm and priced more like a medium sized home.

I personally don't see it entirely as an issue with catering, but an issue with value.

If you ignore all the other houses and look at Old Mistveil Manor by itself, it's okay.

However, I can't get over how small it is in comparison to the other houses. I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but I just want them to give Nords (and other races in a similar position) a better large house.

I certainly wouldn't feel I'm getting my money's worth by buying Old Mistveil Manor with gold or Crowns. If anything, I'd be buying it because it's the best Nord home currently available and the location's not bad. Plus the mountain and stable are pretty cool, but the size is quite lacking. It has a additional yard balcony and stable when compared to Grymharths Woe; but at the added cost of like 2+ million gold.

Agreed. I have huge buyers remorse when comparing to Hundings. Nords got completely jobbed on this "large" home.

I wish they would really design those houses more individually rather than just copy paste from existing.. At least the most expensive houses should be fully exclusiv designs..

Daggerfall overlook for example even copy pasted the nice tower where the wiev is obscurred by too high wall and the "Stair" to the tower as illogical as can be. The tower should have real staircase for example, not door->Floor hatch >.<

I am also disappointed with Old Mistveil Manor. I love the setting...I think the Rift is beautiful with the birch trees in autumn colors and ferns and other greenery all around; however, the outdoor space is small compared to other large homes and the interior is subpar for what I expect a large house to be. Nevermind it's an exact copy of the medium home!

Definitely not a value for its price, whether it is Crowns or gold. Give us a better large home for Nords, ZOS! I love the idea of one in northern Eastmarch.

Any Nord manor better than the current one would be much appreciated. I don't care where at this point.

The large nord home should have been on the lake near Riften. Image the balcony view with the lake and then Riften in the distance..

I don't actually have much interest in housing, all I've done is get the free closet room in an inn, stick Velidreth statue in the middle for lols and never come back, but if there is a house I'd be interested in buying at all, that's Fallowstone Hall. It's gorgeous. I'd also love that in real life

I bought old mistvail manor. I love it. just wish it was slightly cheaper and either on lake honrich or in the snow in western eastmarch or something.
