What do the devs think of making 2h/bow/staff count as 2 set pieces?

I've looked around and I can't find any response from devs or community managers on this, just lots of back and forth, often misguided arguments for and against it, mostly people being scared that this would kill dual wield or complaining that 2h is already OP, which is not the point.

I'm worried about the current state of things I want to put together builds using a bow(I mean fight, not stealth-gank, any build can stealth-gank) or staff as a main bar but it's just not possible while remaining competitive. I look around for pro magicka pvp footage for example and what do I find? ... 1h+shield and dual wield all around, rarely ever a staff. Why? Because 1h+shield offers more armor, better blocking AND allows you to use a 3rd full set bonus. Dual wield allows you to get more damage output AND a 3rd full set bonus.

If you're trying to put together a build and want it to stand on equal footing with an equally-skilled opponent who uses 3 set bonuses, you have to do the same. That 3rd final set bonus just means too much heal, sustain, damage, or utility to give up on.

I know it is a little hypocritical of me to write this after posting my own point of view, which I think is reasonably fact-based instead of the usual baseless fears and assumptions, but I'm not looking for another argument thread. I've gone through those and there is little of substance or use to be found. I'm only interested in figuring out what the devs think about this and if they plan on addressing it. Currently it feels like they added powerful monster sets and didn't have time/didn't care enough to program the features needed to make 2h/bow/staff handle like 2 set pieces(or come up with an other option) so every weapon had access to the same number of sets since this wasn't as big a deal before these 2-piece sets. I can't imagine they didn't see there could be an issue.

Sure there's no destro staff users in Cyrodiil. These guys must be popping destro ults on their SnB bar...

Notice how I mentioned "main bar" you can stick anything in your back bar if you're just going to use it for the weapon ult or a buff before switching back. This does not make the weapon viable as a main bar, nor does people using something mean that it isn't problematic. I'm sure there are some people out there DPSing on resto staves.

If they want frost staff tanking to be viable then they NEED to make this happen.

Exactly. I am really hoping that they're planning on addressing this with the morrowind expansion. Hopefully they wont go "we made 1h+rune a thing, now mag builds can't complain anymore".

From my experience (and what others have said to me) frost tanking is fun but not viable next to S&B. You might consider it as a back bar option, but being an alternate form of a tank just isn't viable, and this certainly isn't helping. So counting as two set bonuses, yeah, sign me up.

The devs specifically? They think this:
Devs are strongly considering where to go with two-handed weapons counting as two slots for sets, but nothing is concrete.

Well actually offensive resto staff is a thing you know.

but also are you really believing that those destro ult users are backbaring their staves and then swapping to what DW and passing up the 8% bonus that lightning staff would give aoe?

    Really?

have you read any homestead patch notes?

As for builds - there are plenty of viable builds and even competitive ones esp in pvp for 11 slot users including clever alch where burst is your friend.

Last rumor I heard was that it was being considered. Obviously this is just a rumor, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Personally I hope that they do make this fix, its how it should have been in the first place. Every character gets a total of 12 slots. Set bonuses are currently set up to allow for a solid 5 5 2 set up, which works perfectly.I don't see why 2/3 of weapons should be not allowed to use one slot, forcing them to break a set.

The new 8% bonus damage staff got give them a huge advantage and make them nearly-optimal for all pve build (even more than before, but now most back bar are hit too) and a lot of pvp builds (only 1h/shield one remains, and some rare dual wield). So, staffs are in a good position at the moment.
Still, the 2-pieces bonus is a really good idea IMO, for both staves, 2 handed and bow. I just think stamina build (especially 2H and bow) need a little upgrade for pve (I've proposed making 2H the AOE stamina weapon, and bow the ranged option, but can't find the english text anymore, only the french one), and pvp need a little more adjustment both in the magicka and stamina side.
