A few questions please.

First of all, I have to say this game has improved so much compared to launch.
Me and my friends came here at launch and couldn't find our home here, the level restriction got in the way as I felt I had to rush through content to catch up to the rest of my guild, including skipping all dialogue.

This time I decided to play it like I would Skyrim/Oblivion etc and take my time with the game and I've had a great time. I've just hit level 40 and now I'm done with the main questline, I've been given the Cadwell's Silver option to see the other available faction quests, my question is, how much content is there for each faction? Does it equate to just one extra map? or a few extra maps?
Also is this game alt friendly?, (I love variety) If i multi class will my others suffer badly? for example would it be best to max out champion points before moving on to something else, I would love to do the Dark brotherhood quest line and thieves guild but I'd prefer to make a thief type character. I currently have a Orc Stamplar.

Cheers.

Cadwell's Silver is a bit of a relic, tbh. Before One Tamriel, it was the only way you could get to zones that belong to other factions (i.e., the Pact, Covenant, or Dominion). Now, you can just hop a ship or take a wayshrine to go to any zone you want at any time, so many people now skip Cadwell's.

Each faction is five full maps, plus either one or two smaller starter zones. The "faction quests" are basically the storyline that began when you dropped out of Coldharbour and were pulled out of the ocean by a helpful individual. It's the faction's primary questline... the one that involves dealing with their leader, etc.So yeah, a faction is a lot of content... but like I said, you no longer need Cadwell's Silver to do them, so it's up to you whether you want to tackle them or not.

The game is absolutely alt friendly. You have four classes, three roles, and three attributes to distribute (though most people min-max either stamina or magicka). You are limited to 8 character slots, though, and will have to buy more with Crowns (aka real money) if you want more. So create a couple characters and explore different playstyles. Your characters all share a bank, so it's very convenient to pass items etc. between them!

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

In my experience; the faction quests do a decent enough job of taking you to all the places your faction owns. So fi you complete both gold and silver, you would effectively be visiting a large portion of Tamriel. You'll have plenty to do, especially if you pick up other quests as you come to towns and such.

It's alt friendly in that your CP is account wide, so if you get 600 CP on your main, starting a new character means they'll also have 600 CP, it makes for a good boosted start and means that you really only need to get them to level 50 to be "maxed".

I would personally recommend getting max (or at least 160) CP before moving on to an alt, but that's ultimately up to you. at 160 you'll at least have access to the "max level gear" between 160-600 is just grinding to be stronger.

And of course, welcome back, have a good time.

Thanks guys, both answered my questions well, much appreciated. One final question please.
I don't see many Orcs have I made a mistake? Does race really matter?
I'm aiming to play a Stamina Templar for end game.

    ~Cheers.

If you're enjoying playing as an orc, you made the right decision as far as I'm concerned. It only matters if you plan on min/maxing out your stats... Any race can be played in any role, some are just more adept at certain roles. Orcs in stamina based classes are great, so you should be fine.

All races work for any type of build if you just want to relax, quest and play the game how you want, but if you want to be competitive in end game PVE/PVP and min max then yes, your race makes a difference. Luckily, you made a good choice if you want to be a stamina templar, orc has great passive that synergies well with that, speed, damage and heal bonus.
