Training Dummies

Do the training dummies you can craft following the homestead release give a measured dps output when attacked, or are they just for show?

I believe they give a good measure for DPS however there are some issues.

You can't simulate any resistances etc. and they re-spawn fast enough that should you be using a long lasting AoE (caltrops) it can trigger that right away and mess up DPS stats on any add-ons.

Others who have more active use might have contrary information or opinions.

They respawn too fast, yes, so you need to place your aoes somewhere else right after you killed it. They have the same resistance as mobs and bosses in veteran dungeons and veteran trials (18200). I heard that some have weaker physical resistance, but the two that I have 18200 each (crown store khajiit and robust argonian skeleton).

I play on console rather than pc, so I mean is it possible to get a dps read out directly from the training dummies in game, or do they just act as stationary, respawning, mobs and require 3rd party add-ons to measure dps?

Once combat ends it will output DPS.

oh so it is an addon people are using to show the damage done by single abilities?

I want to know the damage done by a single rotation rather than Dps.

Combat Metrics is a very good PC add-on for that.

It displays your DPS and Time in text chat. There is no break down of what each skill did, just final DPS

No worries, that's what I'm after. I was just wondering if I can use a training dummy that already exists somewhere in Tamriel, or if I have to craft one for a house for this function? I haven't bothered getting a house, so if I can test it on a dummy already in the environment that will save me a lot of hassle getting a house and crafting one.

You could travel to another players house that has one or make your own.

I haven't bought a house yet either, but I could probably throw one in my free broom closet.

Also, it does take a lot to craft one due to the master writ vouchers needed, but there are two available via the crownstore. You have to own a home and access from the housing editor to see them. But, you can get the basic inn room for free via the quest. It is very small but a target dummy will fit in there.

I know those are options, but I'm asking does anyone know if there are any training dummies already available anywhere in Tamriel that serve the same function. As in any in the PvE or PvP zones that can just be used without the need of houses or crafting?

No, the training dummies are only found in houses that you own or visit. There are not any in the "wild" so to speak.

How do I get it in the crown store? how many crowns is it?

My crafting skills is spread over different characters so I don't have provisioning to even make the skeleton .

The normal ones cost 1500 crowns and the robustness ones cost 2000. I prefer the shorter one with 3 million health because I like to test alone. If you want to test group dps the 6 million health dummy might be better.

If on ps4 NA send me a friend request and I will let you use my target skeleton(jlboozer)....also I found if you unequip poisons you get a more accurate DPS number on target skeleton.

Hey, you can see what single abilities do by turning on dos numbers in the settings...not assuming you are a total noob just making sure you meant 'I need combat metrics to see what each skill hits for' or you need combat metrics because it's vastly superior, more clear, and accurate with timers and stuff

Cheers boozer, that's appreciated, but I'm on EU servers. Yeah, I have combat numbers on already. I just want to be able to tweak my setup and rotation for maximum DPS.

If you're on Ps4/Eu send me a friend request and you can use the dummy in my house if you want. Also quite a lot of my guilds have bought a "guild house" where you can train. Just ask around our just try to visit the houses of your guild leaders.

Check your guild mansions as well. Often they put up training dummies for people to use.

What guilds are you in Iwakura? I'm in infinity blade and Shadowborn Wolfpack for training, but they don't really do anything for PvE. Need a good PvE guild for dungeons and trials.
