It was announced and discussed in several places on these forums, reddit, ESO LIVE, in game among players in every zone and probably every guild where people were into housing. Not sure how you could have missed it.

1) This is exactly why they did it - because some people who really wanted the cave or island would get one of the other houses first, just because they were available right away and then they'd get the cave and/or the island as well because they prefer them. Ideal for ZOS is you use up saved crowns to buy your first house and then have to buy more to get the cave.

2) It was hardly a secret that the two crown store exclusives were coming later, they'd even told us an approximate date. If you were sure you wanted the cave you could have found out when it was being released and then decided whether to wait for it or not.

ZOS knows how to monetize your impatience.

Upon Homestead release, when it appeared that the two luxury estates would be available only later, it was pretty obvious that ZOS wanted to try and make people spend money twice : once on a property that was available for sale (for people who couldn't wait) and then on the property that people really wanted (because, frankly, the cavern and the island are undoubtedly 3000 times better than anything else in terms of housing in ESO).

So yeah... it worked... on you as well as on many people. (not me, though).

They told us it was coming. This is the first they've told us the exact date, but they told us it was coming and they told us roughly when. I believe what they said previously was "it's coming in March". It's not their fault that you didn't pay attention to their announcements.

We don't know for sure yet. There is a datamined answer, but I'd expect there's a good chance ZOS would be looking at tweaking the prices for the crown store exclusives based on whether the crown & gold sales of the other ones were significantly different from their expected sales or not.

Good marketing plans on the part of Zos. We knew when the exclusive homes would be available. They did not hide information from us.

Not really, no. Do you know when the island will be in the crown store ? I don't.

I wouldn't call that "good" marketing. Efficient, sure, but it's not nice to evolve in ESO and having to watch out for marketing traps on literally every corner. It's getting increasingly bad and confusing up to the point where it reduces enjoyment.

I preferred how things were like a year ago, with two ways to access DLCs and one currency to access extra stuff in the cash shop. Now we have real DLCs, extra-costing DLCs (aka "chapters"), limited time offers, crown crates, seasonal stuff, crown gems, crown exclusive styles, crate exclusive items, ESO+ exclusive features, houses available for both gold and crowns, etc... things are designed to get us lost in all these different "options" and to prevent us from making an educated, informed decision as to what to buy or not.

Exactly, I just invested in motifs instead for now since I believe motifs are more useful than a cosmetic house atm but that's me.

Seriously, while I am also very critical about some of ZOS's endeavours, especially with housing, I think in this case the OP has only himself to blame.

No one forces you to buy something if you really want something else. The two crown store exclusives were widely advertised as being exactly that, and also as something that comes at a later date.

You are responsible for your own actions, especially if it is such a first world problem like: "I have to buy a pixel home right now, even if I want another one that is not here yet."

I think as a forum community, we can achieve much more if we focus on real issues that need to be improved instead of blaming behavior that is entirely our own responsibility on ZOS. Threads like this only clutter the forum and give ZOS an excuse to ignore other issues.
