Why is every urn in Old Orsinium empty?

I went there today to farm furniture plans, and every single urn was empty. Is there a 24 hour respawn rate or something?

    If I remember correctly, if you do a dwemer dungeon, then do another right after, the second dwemer dungeon urns will be empty. Way back in the stone age, people were farming dwemer motifs, and a timer was put on to stop it.

    The respawn timer on Dwemer Ruins is about 60 Minutes, if nothing has changed. I think if you go to another zone, it is less time. Like 20 minutes, but they muck around with these things behind the scenes all the time as no patch is needed for these changes.

    I do not think this applies to Public Dungeons, usually. But I have not gone from one to another in super quick procession. Usually I go into a PD and stay there until my armor is wrecked or my bags are full. In other words, the containers are normally instanced to you, but stay empty until you leave and come back after some time has passed. I think the time is longer than 20 minutes on PDs. In OO, it may have different rules.

    Old Orsinium may have had some different rules on it, for no other reason than it was the main farm spot for both Exp and Hides for so long. Plus, there are a ton of Urns in that place.

    But, there are some other places in OO that have lots of Urns. Mokuldin is one of them. It will be curious if you find mostly Orc stuff in that zone. I have had an Orc up there lately, and he is mostly finding Orc Patterns and Plans. Plus, the City of Orisnium is full of containers that drop Plans and Patterns and such.

    I didn't know this. :# I wonder what the timer is? Sometimes I'm in the mood to do dungeons, and I'll do two or three in a row.

    And ZOS ... what the actual heck? :/ It's super hard to get those motifs as it is. I've found ONE dwemer motif in the past two months, and that's from playing every day and constantly checking every container, everywhere.

    Yep. Usually refilled by next day if you've looted the entire city. I know this because once a day I loot 140 fence items before starting my actual gameplay for the day.

    OK, did some testing on this.

    First, RNG can affect how many Urns are Empty or Lootable each time you log in or go to a Dungeon for the first time. So, they are all empty, come back another time, see below.

    Second, all Urns and other Containers are instanced to you. I just did OO with a group of 4 and we all could loot the same Urns

    There is a respawn timer, but I am not sure of the duration or if the duration is set on entrance or exit. But, give your self about 30 minutes between re-entering each PD. The respawn timer does not apply if you go from one PD to another if you have not visited it yet this session.

    Not doubting your testing but on console this is not the case with backpacks.

    @brandonv516

    I did not test backpacks this time around. Backpacks in the overworld are not instanced like other containers. I do know they were instanced in PDs before, perhaps something changed. I will test that after I finish making my Tapioca Pudding.

    I have a hard time believing they would do something different with consoles compared to PC's as far as looting backpacks. In a PC group of 4, usually 2 or 3 people will get someting different out of that same backpack, while one or two people might find it empty. They are not going to contain something all the time as that is dictated by RNG.

    A better question would be how come inventory items you loot from urns sell for no value

    I believe all of those are in "special" styles, like primal etc, and very rarely when you decon them you can get that style stone. I remember back in the day this guy convinced me to grab a ton of those valueless items and decon them (back when daedric hearts were rare) and outta those I did end up receiving 2 hearts. I dunno if that's the case, but that's what I think :)

    @spencer2361

    There is a long history of Loot Tables for Containers. Back with 1.6 or perhaps 1.5, 0 Value Loot was introduced to containers like Urns, Furniture, Backpacks etc. For a while, if you did not get a recipe or motif, that was what you were going to get. Over time, more things have been added to those loot tables which include gear that has value. However the 0 value stuff is still there too.

    So, just like in the real world, sometimes people have a ring with value in their backpack or nightstand, sometimes the ring came from a cracker jack box.

    Diamond rings and amulets worth 0 gold are pretty funny.
    As I run with autoloot on I end up with a lot of it. Usually sell to merchant unless bag are full as its faster.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Got a chance to test backpacks, both grouped and ungrouped in Delves and Dungeons. They are instanced to each character.
