houses on top of way shrines.

How much gold have you wasted trying to recall to a wayshrine, but accidentally clicking a house instead?

Can you guys maybe give us the ability to toggle housing on our maps?

    None.

    Two reasons:

One: When you click in an area that has wayshrines and houses overlapping, a dropdown displaying the options appears. It takes a little longer, true, but isn't hard to do.

Two: Teleporting to a house costs no money at all. Either you don't own the house and you're brought to Preview mode, in which case you can leave the house to be put right back where you were with a bit of time lost. Or, you own the house, in which case it's a free teleport to the spot the wayshrine was at anyway. The only part of that equation that costs money is the wayshrine part, assuming you're not coming from another wayshrine... in which case, if you own the house, you should be using the house anyway.

Not saying the ability to toggle houses on the map wouldn't be great (especially the ones you don't own)... just that this isn't the reason to justify it.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Pretty sure there is a way to turn off map icons. Open to world map and look on the right side. I think there are map filters over there.

None. It doesn't cost anything to port to a house.

I haven't had this problem. If you click on or close to both you get a drop-down asking which you want to go to, so you can just pick the wayshrine if you don't want to go to the house.

(Although if it's a house you own you should always pick the house because then it's free.)

But that classes houses as wayshrines so you can't turn them off seperately. Either you have houses AND wayshrines or neither.

On PC there's an addon which hides them, but I don't think there's any way to do it on consoles.

Also, zoom into the map, that stops the icons from piling on top of each other. We can do this on the PC, I would hope you can zoom into the map on the consoles.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
